If you like good plate lunches, then Big Momma's Fine Foods is your place. I like the fried chicken and fried pork chops with rice and gravy, turnip greens, and green beans. They offer a lot of good selections each day. The price is good and a friendly environment.

Great food !!! Very friendly people!! We would not have stopped here if not on trip adviser . It's off the beaten path. Cornbread, black eyed peas , fried portchop, fried bread, lemon cake ALL VERY good!!

I was stuck on Monroe on business and my friend who knows about my obession with fried foods told me to try this place. I was worried when I first saw place given the neighborhood was pretty run down. When I first walked the smell of heaven hit me. The food is made by family who love what they do.... More

Driving through Monroe on the way to help relatives in south Louisiana dealing with flood waters, and realizing that lunchtime had struck, a quick search of the internet turned up Big Momma's. As a bonus, it was an easy off and back again about 8 blocks from I-20. A fairly recent review on Yelp said the place was locked up... More

Sooooooo good. Good for the tummy and good for the soul. Found it on a road trip through Trip Advisor. The good reviews got us to leave the highway to go 8 blocks to find the best food I've had north of Lafayette. We were there on a Monday which featured fried chicken, fried pork chops, and chicken fried steak,... More

I was there on a Friday and tried the special of the day, fried chicken. The chicken was great. Fresh, steaming hot, not greasy. Other meat choices included BBQ ribs & catfish. Lots of choices for sides, all fresh, looked and tasted great. Portions were huge, prices very reasonable. (Don't expect a menu or anything exotic like that - just... More

My 13 year old daughter picked this restaurant out, and she picked out a winner. The food was excellent. Nothing fancy just plain ole good food. They had 3 or 4 meats and 5 or 6 vegetables to pick from. Good portions and good prices. I had the hot water cornbread with my meal. I could have eaten a half... More

OMG! I've died and gone to Food Heaven. Home-cooked Soul Food ... fried catfish, homemade mac-n-cheese, coleslaw, and hot water cornbread plus just-out-of-the-oven Pound Cake! My husband's plate overflowed with BBQ Ribs, mac & cheese, corn on the cob, hot water cornbread and fresh spice cake. We left stuffed with big smiles on our faces. A definite "do over" for... More

While on my way to Tyler, Texas, I decided to stop in Monroe for some lunch. When I put food in the GPS, several options came up for BBQ. The name Big Mama's came and just on the name alone, I decided to give it a try. Instead of just being a BBQ joint, it was more of a soul... More

My co worker suggested we stop in for lunch. The service is cafeteria style. I had the fried chicken, rice and gravy, fried okra, sweet potatoes, and hot water cornbread. It was all delicious! The chicken was perfectly seasoned all the way through... Not just the crust. The sweet potatoes were the best I've ever had. Although I didn't have... More
