The typical lobster pound. No frills but terrific on the lobster and everything else from the sea. Very nice view of the water while eating too. Almost every diner appeared jovial and satisfied with the establishment. However, I overheard one man ask his SO if...More

This is very much the quintessential Maine lobster experience. No table cloths, picnic tables and wonderful lobsters. If you go, I highly recommend passing on the whole lobster and getting their lobster stew, instead. It's nothing but lobster meat cooked in cream and butter; what...More

2 meals here in one week and it was wonderful. Try the lobster stew and lobster roll, but the crab cakes too were pure crab meat - what held it together was hard to tell. The bar here is very generous with its pours. The...More

Little more then just a lobster shack, but less then a fancy place, they offer the regular fares of clams, mussels, fried fish but the king of all is the lobster. Simply prepared, just steamed, doesn’t even need the butters once is so fresh and...More

As an MDI native who spends summers here, going to Thurstons is like going home. In the busy season I avoid it, but for tourists it is a great place for the perfect lobster and a beautiful setting in a working harbor.

Stopped by for lunch on our way to Acadia. I got a lobster roll and my daughter got Chowder. It was a bit pricey, but very good. The lobster roll was mostly lobster with a little mayonnaise. The chowder was good. It had big chunks...More

Thurston’s Lobster Pound is the best place for lobster if you don’t care about pristine ambiance. We wanted great lobster and we found it. The lobster was so sweet that it didn’t need a bit of butter to enhance the taste. The basic meal comes...More

Thurstons is quite the popular spot! Even though I arrived at 5:15, there was already a line out the door. However, as a solo eater, or anyone who doesn’t want a whole lobster, I went out to the bar area where I immediately sat outside...More

The lobster roll was good and fresh tasting. Note we chose the jumbo lobster roll ($26 for a hot dog roll filled with lobster). The Crab cakes were tasty (2 avg sized for $15). The bowl of haddock chowder ($9) was disappointing, mostly potatoes and...More

This is obviously one of the most popular lobster restaurants in the Bar Harbor area. It's a bit of a shlep from Bar Harbor but a pretty ride out and fairly easy to find. Expect long lines but it does move quickly. We were lucky...More

Hi there! I'm not sure if you're the person who sent an inquiry through our website, but I just responded to that :) The only clams we serve are steamers, since we do not offer any fried foods on the menu!
