Delicious Fried Fish

Ordered the Big Fish and Chips which is one pound of tasty, breaded and fried haddock alongside shoestring potatoes and tartar sauce and/or dill sauce. Just a little popular local shack on side of the road. Couldn’t eat at their picnic table because of COVID.

I’d read some reviews on the Boothbay area and had come across this place. We were luckily enough to spot it on our way! I had a fish & chips and my husband got a fish sandwich and fries. To say portions are generous would be a huge understatement. Everything was delicious, from the fried fish to the homemade tartar sauce. If you are lucky to come across this place before they’ve sold out for the day, slam on the brakes and get out of the car! They accept only cash or checks- heads up!

a great shack like place with great fried fish

if you like fresh fish fried then head here for the best high quality fresh fish fried in a light batter and the only side is fries. A huge portion of fried fish comes out and is hot and has its own tarter sauce. They have dill as well but I like the tarter sauce myself. With a soft drink just be outside on one of the picnic tables and you are all set. Nice staff,clean place. It is a gem of a place. good for the entire family.

Absolutely delicious!

I love fish and chips. I am no expert, but I have eaten a lot of them, and these are the best! Neither fish or chips were greasy. Fish batter was super light. Normally I dig the fish out the batter to eat, but this time found myself even just eating the batter at the end. Ordered a large bowl for $21 to share with my husband. Perfect amount for the two of us. We are every ounce and left full and very happy. Picnic tables are closed due to COVID so eat in the park right next door.

The Best Fish & Chips

We spent the day in Boothbay for my husband's Birthday, and this was the highlight! The fish is fresh caught, and sold until they run out for the day. The fish was deliciously fried and not at all greasy. You also get so much food for your money! We will definitely be back when things open back up again!

The fish was excellent!! Nice light breading. Definitely not oily it was perfectly cooked. I did need to add salt. The french fries were not completely cooked. I had to put in air fryer to crisp up. Again, had to add salt. Definitely would return!!

Can't Be Beat!!

Absolute best place for fish and ships!!! Order haddock with or without fires. You get plenty of each!! A full pound of fish and a big bowl of fries for under $25! Enough for two, so the cost per person is low and the fish is the best! Cant beat it! Order at the window and sit at one of the picnic tables at the park next door. Very clean restrooms are a block away. We don't visit Boothbay without stopping at Bet's!

Good but it depends

Visited Bet's today based on the reviews. Rated it ok. Being from Louisiana, we tend to like to add spice to all seafood. On the positive side, the fish was extremely fresh, fresh fried, not greasy. Breading was on the thin side and looked to have some spice in it but not much, you couldn't taste it. So, if you like fresh fish, no spice like cooked at home, you'll love this place. It is a bit on the pricey side for plain fish. If you expect some flavor other than fish, do not come here without some Slap yo momma or some Zatarains. We wouldn't go back without it.

One Fish Fry to Rule Them

Bet’s never misses. It’s simple food: fish and fries, and she does it BEST. Ask for the dill sauce with your fish; it’s the only way to eat it! Portions are huge. My spouse and I usually split a half order. This is a classic New England fish fry. If you need your foot to be spicy, bring that with you. As a Marylander, I have dreamed about bringing some Old Bay and sprinkling it on the fish because I think that would make it even more incredible, but it really is perfectly lovely as is.

Look no further. Bet's Fish and Chips are the best on the Maine Coast. Delicious, light, perfectly prepared, fast service, huge portions large enough for two people. Perfect meal and you cannot beat the price. No frills just fantastic fish and chips with friendly service.

SO Good and fresh. Fresh Haddock and handcut Maine potatoes!! Large portions and reasonable prices. Watch out though because they do sell out before closing sometimes! The only place we will ever go for haddock now!

Great Lunch

My favorite lunch spot in the entire area. Grab yourself some Haddock, some fries and hang out for lunch. The portions are huge, and the portions are absolutely tasty. The Haddock is spectacular. The fries are outstanding. I already miss the place. Need to go back!

Such fresh fish!

This is such a unique fish fry. The fish is always fresh! The only side is French fries. They make a great fish fry! They have tarter sauce and dill sauce! Every time we come to the area we have to go to Betts!

Great pan fried fish. Get there early.

Delicious pan fried fish. Very fresh fish. Luckily got the last fish of the day at 1:15 on Saturday. (They are only open 11am-2pm. ) Single serving is huge. Will go back again next time I visit.
