A-1 can't seat too many people at a time but the food is fresh and delicious. Although some of their food isn't typical diner food they have good options.

The specials are well worth a look and provide some very eclectic choices that would fit well in a larger Portland or Boston restaurant. The other menu choices are very well done, good coffee and above average portions. You may need to sit at the counter as there are not many booths but it's well worth the visit.

I had heard that this diner had been on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I love the show. I did not see anything on the menu or come out of the kitchen that was outstanding. The food was good, just not anything special. I had a Reuben sandwich on marble rye with chips and a pickle. My friend had a bacon... More

What a gem, this restored diner has been in place since 1946 (70 years). Fresh warm home-made rolls from the steamer drawer, a little window with a bell that announces your food is ready, awesome details! I went for the comfort food (pea soup with ham and a meatloaf sandwich). But, there's plenty of new and modern things to try... More

This place is a GEM! We were hoping to eat in Wiscasset on our way home to Bangor after an excellent visit to Boothbay Harbor for the Gardens Aglow and the Tugboat Inn (more on that elsewhere!!) Sarah's was closed in Wiscasset- (my friend was NOT disappointed as her last crab cakes there were mostly stuffing) I plowed North through... More

Food here is very good! Its not like what you would imagine your typical diner to be. On the other side it is very small space and space is limited.

There were five of us for lunch and by swinging a chair over the counter, we sat five at the booth. The menu varies from diner food to gourmet. One person ordered the eggplant and lamb stack - it was delicious. I had the fried clams and the clams were lightly battered and fried golden. The cole slaw was not... More

The A-1 is very eclectic in its offerings...we stuck with the basic cheeseburgers with blue-cheese,( my husband had swiss cheese) with hand cut fries...perect!

Saw this on the Diner's Drive ins and Dives show, so we went there on our vacation route. It was a diner, so that made it interestingly fun, on a bridge, in a cute town on the border of New Hampshire. But that's kind of where it stops. We ordered breakfast as it was a Sunday, and I think they... More

A most eclectic diner. I think this was once a Pullman car. The Sunday brunch is superbly inventive, especially the New Orleans bourbon french toast. Dinner entre's have a decidely Middle Eastern character.
