The Family Dog just reopened under new ownership, with the same menu. Many different options, great fries and onion rings, and a lovely patio and grassy area with tables for outdoor seating in nice weather. A great "fast food" option with healthy, and some not so healthy, choices. Kids will love the mac and cheese dog!

Lovely lunch in outdoor area. Friendly staff. Good selection of menu. Good ice cream to round it off.

Stopped here for hotdogs. Boy did we get hotdogs. Macaroni & cheese with bacon over a hot dog, a deep fried bacon wrapped hotdog with cheese, and a grilled chicken breast with Thai coleslaw. We then followed it up with a "small" scoop of Confused dog ice cream - so soft and creamy! Amazing food! Awesome service! Looking for great... More

As a UMaine student, the Family Dog is a great place to take your friends and family when they want a hot dog or a burger... but not just a plain dog or burger. Their menu is extensive and covers pretty much everything / anything you'd want on a hot dog / burger. Great service & food - I suggest... More

We took our granddaughter(who is a student at U of M) to lunch here and thought it looked like an interesting place. The food was surprisingly good but the young man at the counter taking our order was VERY rude and VERY sarcastic. Hard to believe someone who owns that business would employ someone like him to represent them at... More

The Family Dog had a great atmosphere and good food. Everyone found multiple things on the menu they liked. Nice atmosphere and we noticed they have ice cream for future visits.

Finding ice cream in Maine in February is not easy, but we did find that the Family Dog had milkshakes on their menu. The staff was friendly, and we watched them make our shakes ... the chocolate ones were delicious, the strawberry one a little short of flavor. I was disappointed that they did not have any decaf coffee, which... More

Lots of interesting hot dog choices, including vegetarian and build your own. They also have sausage and steak bombs and lots of sides to choose from. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table for you. We were there in Feb so we did not try the ice creams but they serve Shain's from Maine. The... More

I've gone here with aging family members and with friends. We've always had a good time with good food and a nice beer selection. They make the greatest steak and cheese sandwich we've had in years! I try to order something else but can't do it. The fries and onion rings are good, too. It's casual with sports on TV... More

They have the best cheese sauce ever. It's great on their hotdogs, as a dip for fries, and of course on pasta. Great beer selection as well!
