This is an amazing restaurant. Had the crab stuffed portobello mushroom and a salad for lunch. Others had a delicious cajun seafood chowder that was also wonderful. Who would expect this gourmet food in a diner style setting that is relaxed and comfortable. Service was excellent. The chef/owner came out to be sure we got everything we needed and one... More

I had a positive experience @ this restaurant. The service was some of the friendliest I've experienced since living in Maine almost 17 years. I ordered the Chef omelette and was not disappointed. Touts itself as no box, made on the spot. You can tell they love the food.

This place would be great anywhere, but most especially in Central Maine, which abounds in fried, fried, fried. Vittles serves fresh, local, and good. What a delight to find a menu with "balsamic," "caramelized," and "pesto" on the menu. We had a turkey pesto club and a veggie burger, both excellent, both on great bread and fresh.

Stopped in Pittsfield on our way home from Nova Scotia. Asked the front desk for a recommendation for dinner and she recommended Vittles. I am so glad she did because the place was fantastic. The food and service was exceptional. The decor really isn't much to look at but looks are deceiving!! If I'm ever in the area again, I... More

Dennis & I stopped for lunch on our way to Moosehead & what a wonderful meal we had. We started off with soup- mine was the soup of the day & spicy and delicious. Dennis had the Haddock chowder and he said his was one of the best he's ever had. We split the Turkey Club with Cranberry Mayo- it... More

Looking for food while driving to Bangor and pulled off in Pittsfield. Followed the signs to Vittles and was warmly welcomed when I entered. Had the special, a cup of Cajun seafood chowder. It was packed with seafood but the potatoes were overcooked and not a lot of Cajun taste. A little warmer would have been nice as well. Ordered... More

Was famished while driving toward Bangor and took a chance based on a road sign - great decision! Felt like a small town diner with a wide selection of items.Had one of the soup specials which I thought was way overpriced for the quality ($10 for a cup) and quantity. On the other hand the grilled cheese (with 3 different... More

When you first walk in you feel like you've went back in time. Cool decor. Seating variety - booth, table, high top or bar. Take your pick. Homemade chips served with sandwiches are delicious. We had a shrimp wrap and chicken Parmesan panini. The wrap has many fresh veggies in it and was presented tastefully. The panini was delicious. Chicken... More

I don't usually give bad reviews as this restaurant was good when they opened, but the last few times we went it was less than acceptable. The visit I'm writing about was one such visit. I ordered something I felt was easy to get right, prime rib, medium. When it came to the table not only was it cold the... More

We love this close to home restaurant with its commitment to local farm/food growers and to amazing meals with in-season bounty. It is well worth the trip from away and if you are close, do stop by! The fish (chowders, filets, anything!) is always my favorite as is the in-kitchen created coleslaw made (again!) from local ingredients. Amazing!
