Everything from the garlic knots on the table to dessert was excellent. The haddock special fell apart and the garlic sweet mashed potatoes paired wonderfully. We will definitely be back!

The staff at David's Restaurant could be better if they would just take the time to look at plates prior to passing to their servers. Case in point tomatoes that were past their time, or burnt flour dusted onion rings on the meatloaf. Turning tables is not the only way to turn business profit, keeping returning customer in seats is... More
We called to make a reservation a little too late to get a table but the hostess got us seats at the chef's counter. It was a nice experience and i would do it again. They were nice and chatted with us. They gave us a few taster plates which were yummy! The food was good and we enjoyed our... More
On Valentine's Day, David's was serving a 5 course prix fix meal with choices for three of the five courses. We dined with friends and between the four of us, sampled multiple dishes. All were outstanding! They were perfectly prepared with sides that were carefully chosen and which enhanced each dish. We arrived early in the evening, and by the... More
Having no reservations on Valentines Day, we thought we'd "just" sit at the bar for a drink and a snack before a show. Luckily for us, we stumbled into the full 5 course holiday dinner - pre-fix with many options from vegan, to seafood to filet. Some of my favorite dishes were the creamy parsnip soup, seared scallops, salmon (cooked... More
Great atmosphere with even better food! Service is always great whether dining or at the bar. Some of my favorite meals have been from Davids!
Met a colleague for dinner. We had a 6:00pm reservation and were greeted and seated promptly. Attentive waitstaff-in hindsight, not certain if he mentioned specials. But who needs specials with a menu like this?! We ordered the tuna tartare appetizer, haddock with peeky toe crab and open faced lobster ravioli as entrees. Everything was absolutely delicious! Licking our plates delicious!!... More
Made a reservation for a early dinner before a 7:00 show on a Friday night in December. Group of five people. Although a small restaurant, our table for 5 was well proportioned and easily sat our group. Because we were early, got to take advantage of the happy hour drink specials. Very nice! Everyone enjoyed their meals. The only complaint... More
This place gets wildly mixed reviews. Put us in the disappointed column. Walked in on a Friday and seated promptly in a great window seat, but then things went downhill. Our server Tyler was very good, the food not so much. Split appetizer of "lobster, scallops and salmon" cake: damned if we could find any seafood-mostly bread and very dry.... More
We were headed to the airport to pick up our daughter and wanted a good, but unpretentious dinner, and headed to David;s. We have been numerous times, but this is our first review. David's is a delightful bistro-ish restaurant in downtown Portland, a town long known for wonderful, small, eateries. We had a glass of red wine while splitting an... More
