We recently ate here for breakfast. The restaurant was less than half full. The wait service was very slow and our order was messed up. When they staff took the meal back to the kitchen to fix, it was "slided" back in front of me as the server kept on running by. They left stuff off the plates of the... More

The restaurant was warm cozy and the staff helpful and cheerful. The food could have been better. They had recently changed the menu and I was looking forward to something on the online menu. The food was good just not what I was craving. The dessert was great and plenty to share. Profiteroles with homemade ice cream with amaretto hot... More

We were attending a Veteran's Day Weekend Retreat in the area and a large group of us chose to meet and eat at the C&G. The staff did just an outstanding job of serving so many of us and they were attentive and sharp and a pleasure all around. To be clear however, this is less "fine dining" and more... More

Very small and reservations are a must. Good wine list. Four of us had the Cesar salad which is prepared table slide. A little heavy on the garlic but very good. We would ask for less garlic the next time. Others had the shrimp quesadilla app and we're pleased. All of the meals were cooked to perfection. The boneless short... More

We have lived in Saco but never visited this restaurant until last Friday evening . That was definitely our loss. From the duck to the schnitzel to the cream caramel ........outstanding. Our waitress was attentive and personable. We will be back.

Started with table side Caesar which was phenomenal, scallops with jasmine rice were incredible. My family members had the Haddock with a lemon Beurre sauce, the short ribs and the Shepherds Pie. We all absolutely loved it. Even the fresh brewed iced tea was amazing. Service was great. We highly recommend this spot for a delicious meal.

This is the type of place that you really want to like. It is a small operation (the restaurant only seats about 30 people), is very homey on the inside, everything appears to be homemade, and they have relatively high aspirations for their food. Unfortunately, only some of those aspirations are realized. I had what was clearly a homemade soup... More

Bottom line first: Tasty appetizers, good bread, friendly service but meh entrees. So, it's hard to know how exactly to rate Chef & the Gardner on star rating system -- if + and - were allowed, it would get a 3+ or 4- rating from me. Now to back up: We were staying overnight in Biddeford on our way Down... More

We discovered this restaurant when we came across a lot of good reviews. It did not disappoint. Service was amiable and professional, the decor is simple/cute, the food was outstanding (and inventive). We loved it and will definitely return so we can try something else on the creative menu.
