The clientele may be a little rough around the edges, but otherwise this is one of the older, classic restaurants in Lynn. Porthole has been around for as long as I can remember. Gone are such places like Nandees, Boston St Cafe, and JT Shawmut, places that were warm and comforting but otherwise dated and old. Places like here and... More

As one proceeds northward from Boston along route 1A, one eventually enters the city of Lynn and experiences the iconic Lynnway. This stretch of 1A offers strip shopping centers and dealerships for every automobile short of an Edsel. It's easy to remember the age-old poem: "Lynn, Lynn, city of sin...you never go out the way you come in." But take... More

Had another family reunion for 14 people and had a fun time. The Porthole is a fairly large place on the Lynn Harbor side of the Lynnway near the yacht club and has plenty of parking. Today they had overlooked our reservation but were able to accommodate us in a nice private area even though it was quite busy. For... More

I have been here several times and have found their food consistently good, the menu is varied and I have enjoyed eating the there. The staff is cordial and a lot of fun. Lots of regulars here, the first time I had dinner there another diner made some great suggestions about what to try. Drinks are great, and reasonably priced.... More

A go-to place for families and locals for 30+ years at this location . They know how to cook seafood very well here and often will have great deals like twin lobster etc. The veggies and salad selections are old-school and not overly inspired but that's not what one comes here for. Nice bar and friendly staff make for a... More

Went to a private function here and was happy with the food and the service. Everything was served hot and fresh. Would recommend to anyone looking for a private function room. Have also eaten in the restaurant itself and was very pleased.

First visit just average. Great location on the water near Lynn Beach on the Lynnway. Second visit terrible....nachos with cheese wiz. Rude waitress who was overly friendly to my partner and did not deserve a tip for her lackluster service, ran after me and yelled out thank you as we were leaving the restaurant. Seemingly indifferent owner who stated he... More

the fish is always fresh and the service outstanding. I was a little disappointed in the clam chowder which has a tendency to be different depending on who is cooking that night. Last night was not thick and creamy as usual. The swordfish was delicious
