Spacious bar, dining rooms, all Wood floors and walls interior. Comfy, cozy and good acoustic for conversation. We ate lobster club sandwiches, butternut squash ravioli, steak and seafood, chicken and salmon on pasta and appetizers all equally tasty. Service was excellent as well.

Had a table for 9 and our servers were very helpful & attentive. Fried clams not brilliant, but good beer & fun bar.

Got to town late for family dinner so we went had some drinks and snacks. Crowded but not too noisy. Nachos were great. Good enough to go for lunch the next day. Table of ten, service was very good and fast. Sandwiches were great. I had the Haddock sandwich and the group thought that was the best.

I've eaten here countless times and the food is usually quite good. Today, cold, cold food and slow, slow service. We waited a full hour for food, and it was cold. No excuse for that. We were so hungry we didn't send it back. What a disappointment!

We both had the Cuban Sandwich, very tasty, but we loved the fries, extra crunchy and onion rings, very light, just as much..great service too!

Good food in a great town. Love the buck-a-shuck $1 oysters - great deal! The oysters are with Blue-point or Wellfleet, not sure, and have a mild flavor, but at $1 each, can't lose. The rest of the fare is overall good, with a nice selection. Service was great and attentive, the ambiance homey, and a busy bar scene.

Back in the 90's I used to work locally and frequented the Grog, but as time moved on so did I. Was able to return this weekend and reintroduce myself, still has the same charm that it had in the past. Had a great Bloody Mary (made with Absolut Pepper Vodka), nice and spicy the way we like them. They... More

Great watering hole; excellent selection of beer & great food. The staff here is super friendly and attentive. The menu is diverse- something for everyone and everything that I have had here is really good. The bar is a fun place to sit and talk to the locals. There is even entertaining upstairs. Super cozy & charming and full of... More

cold, rainy day...the fire was going and the chowder was hot. Beautiful fish and chips. Wood-paneled interior with old paintings and a slaty dog clientele. Really an original Newburyport treasure.
