My sister and her husband, my nephew, his wife and three daughters and I have breakfast here, with the family that runs Knotty Pine, frequently. Some combination of us or all (although all takes 2 tables) are there at least once a week. Not always the same day. Breakfast is fast, good solid diner type fare. Coffee refills often. Smiling... You would think that a place that only serves breakfast and lunch would have those two meals nailed. That's not the case with The Knotty Pine. It has plenty of old diner funk, from the worn formica counter to the panelling of its name. The food, however, leaves a lot to be desired. While basic scrambled eggs were okay, the... More

A little hole in the wall diner that puts out good, delicious breakfast and lunch food. Specials everyday and quality service. A real local place where it seems that everyone knows everyone. and that's a good thing. Nice friendly people and good basic breakfast food and the prices are good too. Not cheap but very easy on the pocket book.

had a good breakfast here, but short on coffee. very pleasant staff, but one feels a little rushed to eat and get the next customer into the seat. I would have liked a second cup of coffee after my saturday night!

As claimed the home fries are great, spicy and great. Small place so plan to wait a little. Food is good quality except the coffee but I'm fussy on that.

Have been coming here since I was a kid when my father used to bring us. Recently I have been going for breakfast where you'll find Newton locals - cops next to businessmen, next to moms with kids, and retirees. It is a wonderful melting pot with solid food, friendly service and reasonable prices. It is a Newton landmark which,... More

This is a very authentic, family-owned place. Great counter, table seating is okay but very limited. The food is very good, but uninspired-- good eggs and bacon; great pancakes; amazing hash browns. Coffee is not good, unfortunately. There might be healthy options, but I've never even considered them. It's not that kind of place. It's also too expensive for what... More

Always busy on a Saturday morning, but I can usually get a spot at the counter. The servers are quick and help each other out to keep the food coming. I always go with the special omelet with toast and coffee. One warning: the coffee is pretty flat, which is no wonder since they pre-fill at least 10 sets of... More

popped in just before noon on a Saturday...I didn't realize that they closed at noon but they kindly let me sit at the counter for a quick breakfast. Breakfast was satisfying, not super special but a good solid local diner.

Family owned and operated. The Knotty Pine is decades old with great tradition. The menu is simple and the food is delicious. Small space with both counter and table service. Snuggle in and enjoy!
