This place was great a long time ago. I don't know what happened but it went down hill. The food isn't awful, it's just very mediocre. The service is okay, not particularly friendly. They don't have a meatless marinara. The salad I was given was a bunch of yellow iceberg lettuce, tons of onion chunks and two measly slices of... More

This is a wonderful restaurant that I've been going to since I was a young child when my parents and grandparents would take us here for a special treat. There is nothing fancy about it; it's not one a big city trendy restaurant that will be gone in six months. It's just a nondescript restaurant serving wonderful food with wonderful... More

We just wanted a quick simple and inexpensive bite to eat. I've never been here even though I'm born and raised in the Berkshires. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a glass of wine with the bartender/owner and learned the heritage and history of the Highland. Everyone that came in the door was greeted with a familiar conversation, this... More

The beer battered haddock & chips were good as we would expect. The veal scallopini was not. The meat had no texture from tenderization. It was in thick chunks rather than in thin slices. The sauce was tomato based with peppers & onions. This would have been ok if meat were good. Someone on this forum recommended this dish in... More

Really was hoping for more. Being around since the 1930's you would think it would be better. Sadly, it was not good. Everything tasted like it was from the freezer. Nothing home cooked here. The space could use a bit of an cleaning and update. One good thing, the server was pleasant.

When in Pittsfield this is a family style restaurant with down home food at good prices. But don't expect anyting special. The best bet is the scallops sandwich. It's dirt cheap and super tasty. Check it out.

Whenever I go to the Highland I have a whiskey sour and the fried scallops (if available), otherwise I will have the veal parm. Everyone in my family loves this place, the kids are happy and so are we. It's a busy, but charming place, with a loyal local following. It's old school with service which is as established as... I have been dining at the Highland since I was a child. My mother would bring me and my grandmother into Pittsfield once a month for a girls day out. Now I take my daughters, son, and grandchildren for our special occasions. The food is excellent and you get good sized servings for low prices. I highly recommend anyone who... More
