Absolutely love this place! Great Polish food and drink. 4th generation family restaurant. Lots of character! Views of Lake Michigan from the back patio are beautiful. Stopping here is now a tradition every time I'm in Northern MI.

We took the "Tree Tunnel" tour on Oct 16. The drive was relaxing and quiet. However the colors were not as bright as they are farther inland. If the information I have is correct, the slowness of the trees turning colors along the lake shore is due to the warmth of the air coming off the water. The same is... More

We drove the Tunnel of Trees ending up at Legs Inn after reading the reviews. I like Polish food and also wanted to try some smoked white fish before we left the region. The building and grounds were unusual and have a great view of the water. Lots of folks having lunch on the patio, and the dining room was... More

We went when the color tour was in full swing. Bad idea. Had to wait 45 minutes to get a table. Grandkids got quite antsy. Food was VERY good. Will go again just no on a Friday in late September. Our poor timing, should have known better.

If you like Polish food or want to try it, this is the place to go. Combined with the scenic travel there it is a great weekend get away. They are quite busy, especially during the fall color time. The wait time can be an hour or more and they do not take reservations. They close for the winter in... More

After an expected wait, we got to sit at the perfect table - on the patio, in the sun, with a view of Lake Michigan. ;) The gardens are beautiful, and even with the hustle and bustle of a peak fall season day, the atmosphere was relaxed. Everyone was enjoying themselves. We loved our server - super fun and not... More

Legs Inn would be worth the trip if only for its unique design and construction, built almost a century ago from boulders, tree branches, roots and stumps found in the area. But go also for the great food, specializing in Polish cuisine but offering a variety of other dishes as well. The beer menu is extensive, too. We drove up... More

A native Michigander, I'd heard many rave reviews of the Polish fare offer at Legs Inn, and while I travel extensively in northern Michigan, I'd never taken the time to visit the Legs Inn until October 16, 2016. I wish I'd gotten there sooner! GETTING THERE Legs Inn is located at 6425 North Lake Shore Drive in Cross Village, Michigan,... More

Just a great place to eat. Very unique and worth the wait. So we try to make it every year. They close about middle of October, so we try to catch the color and then eat. We took the "Trail of Trees" out of Harbor Springs. Beautiful winding road. We were early for color or the color was late, but... More

*** LEGS INN IS OPEN THROUGH SUNDAY OCTOBER 16, 2016 *** Located in historic Cross Village, Michigan, Legs Inn is a "monument to nature." Built on a high bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, it is unique and mysterious as seen in its architecture and decor. The fantasy-like atmosphere of this medieval looking stone, timber and driftwood landmark was created by one man, Polish immigrant, Stanley Smolak. He fell in love with Northern Michigan and its people, many of them Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and decided to settle in Cross Village in 1921.A blend of Old World European and Indian cultures creates a memorable atmosphere. The entry foyer, tavern, game and dining rooms are all filled with an intriguing collection of nature and hand carved furniture -- whimsical creations made of tree stumps, twisted limbs and roots, driftwood sculptures and massive fieldstone fireplaces.Authentic Polish cuisine is our specialty, but delicious American dishes, including local fresh Whitefish, are also served. The Smolak family and staff are dedicated to making your visit to Legs Inn an unforgettable experience, which will have you returning often with family and friends throughout the years.Throughout the decades Legs Inn has become a famous family destination and restaurant. It has been acknowledged and praised by major magazines, TV broadcasters, newspapers, travel-related web sites, tour guides and guests from across the country and around the world. We look forward to your visit.
