Since this was rated highly on TripAdviser I decided to try it out because I was passing through the area. It is in a nice location in a great building downtown. I was somewhat disappointed in the food and pricing. I had the daily special and it was higher priced than most other lunch places, which is surprising in a... More

I work in the downtown area and often come to max and Emilys for lunch. The chicken dumpling soup in a bread bowl is my favorite! I also love their grilled cheese- it has cream cheese and tomato as well as cheddar and swiss in between the grilled sourdough bread which is delicious!! Coffee is seattles best and the cookies... Thanks to Trip Advisor's rating, the three of us got away from the interstate's usual fast-food fare into downtown Mt. Pleasant and found this college-town favorite in a repurposed downtown storefront with exposed brick walls for ambiance, reminiscent of Ann Arbor's famed Zingerman's deli in more ways than one. The place was busy with a youngish crowd, bustling, chattery, cheerful.... More

Max and Emily's has the *best* sandwiches in town, with an enormous selection - and the chicken and dumpling soup... *Perfect* on a winter day! More than this, though, is their community involvement. Every Sunday they offer free meals to homeless and other economically challenged people in a program they call "People Helping People." Well done, M&E's!

Was here for lunch with some girlfriends. It was quite busy and we had a hard time finding a seat for the five of us. We ended up just pulling up a chair to a four top. The food was very good, but quite pricey. $8.75 for a sandwich and a bag of chips is quite a lot. You can... More

Max & Emily's has delicious food. In the warmer months it has a lovely patio to enjoy the quaint downtown Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. They have an extremely large menue and great service. The soup is to die for. The only reason I did not rate it a five was due to some items being over priced.

Thought by the reviews, this would be an above awesome place. It is good, but just a pricey sandwich shop. Does have a very large assortment of sandwiches and cheesecake was good, but a little sliver was $4.15.

Getting a quick sandwich with my oldest grand daughter. We ordered really different sandwiches. Both were wonderful. Service was really nice and very friendly and welcoming.
