No longer cheap and cheerful - cheerful yes but prices have increased! Good food, probably better than before but I suspect the hotel (almost 10metres away) would likely be as cheap. Great chicken ballotine with fab frites, and we shall return but with different expectations.

My wife and I have been visiting Blaye for many years but never stopped to eat, we changed all that one lunchtime last week when we called in here and selected delightful meals from the formule lunchtime menu. Great food, good value, good location, friendly staff.

Situated in the Citadelle with a view of the Gironde estuary. Nice smells coming from the kitchen!! Chill out and enjoy.

Lovely location and part of the old Citadel overlooking the Garonne. Took ages to get a table for two and a long time to get served. Even when served, it took a long time to get not only our drinks but the meal. The food was good but not as described on the menu. We enjoyed the ambience but it... More

We have been here a few times now over the last couple of years. We returned again this year, and still the restaurant hasn't failed. We had a rather extended lunch soaking in the beautiful view and the sunshine. Their lunch menu had great choices, and each dish is simple but freshly cooked with good skills. We had squid, fish... While the cadre and service are great, the food is really disgusting. You have no idea what you are eating. We sent back one plate, the second one was so gross (a simpke tatare of tuna, we could not tell what it was. We paid and left everything. When the owner asked how the food was, we simpky said it... We visited here tonight for a drink after dinner elsewhere. After several minutes being ignored by the waiting staff ( this seems normal in France), my husband went up to ask for a drinks list and to check that drinks were being served. We waited for several more minutes, and despite having caught the eye of the waiter and an... More

A favourite local for our residence secondaire - never fails to be friendly with, if you need them, English speaking staff-food pretty reasonable, don't expect Escoffier, a lively terrace and parking next to or in the Citadelle!! House wine could be better but plenty more to choose from. To our cost they close in the winter months but in the... More

In the fort are a few small eateries, we chose this one as it had the best prices and seemed authentic from its setting and layout, the food is very good but its out side seating is more suited for a quick stop and bite (street food style) rather than a full on lunch or dinner. Altogether very very good!
