We had a family lunch recently on a Saturday. The place was dead at noon. The atmosphere was nice, and our server was excellent. However, the food was just average.

I wish this restaurant was downtown, it has some of the best food in the area. The atmosphere is great and service is good as well! Wish they stayed open a bit later. Definitely recommend if you're in the portage area!

Having a meal alone at a restaurant is not the most exciting. And maybe I made the wrong choice, but I was not impressed. The whole experience was just OK.

Looked up the menu on their website and decided to give it a try on a shopping trip to Portage. We sat in the bar area by the fireplace (which was awesome on a cold day). We had a very attentive, on her mark waitress. Also happened to hit happy hour and appetizers and drinks were on special. We had... More

We liked the atmosphere and service, but we both ordered the perch special and it was terrible. Very salty and overbreaded. I believe it was the worst I've had in a long time.

I had not been to this restaurant for dinner before and will not return for dinner again. Where to begin...I met some friends for dinner and there was a 15 minute delay before our waitress came to take a drink order. The chips and dip are free at lunch but cost $1.50 at dinner, which is not the reason for... More

We were recently in town on business and asked around for a really good restaurant that is a local favorite. Two people recommended The Craftsman Chop Company so we decided to try it. It was definitely worth the stop. It has a nice atmosphere that is quiet and laid back but not upscale. We tried their beer cheese appetizer with... More

I love coming here for lunch. They start you out with their home made chips. Yum! They have daily home made soups and their main dishes are delicious.

VERY nice restaurant!! Love the architect outside and the decor inside. Very friendly staff with excellent waiter; took our order without writing it down. Really easy to find on Sears Drive, Portage, MI. We make it a point to eat here while attending a car event in Kalamazoo, MI. I ordered the Cashew Chicken, fresh green beans and side salad.... More

We have gone to the Chop house for many years, most recently we have noticed the food has gone from consistently very good to excellent--took some friends there who had never been and they couldn't believe the quality of the food--great atmosphere too. The reuben is the best in town, hands down.
