Tried the "new" B&N kitchen. Based on the hype and the Star & Tribune review, expected better. Nothing wrong with the experience, and will add that relative to the old Café, an improvement but hoped for more. The service was good, but hard to figure out as there were many servers and the coverage area almost seemed random. Burger was... More

Read some rave reviews in the newspaper so since we were there thought we'd give it a try. As most reviews here state it has a limited menu, and the prices are high. Most entrees are at least $16. Ordered the Mac and Cheese and Mushroom Ragu. Both were very good, but were $16 a plate. There is a hamburger... More

Is it a bookstore? Is it a restaurant? It can't decide so it does neither very well. LOUD! Glaring lights. Strange, uninviting arrangement of books. Strange, uninviting arrangement in the cafe. Overpriced food, reduced area of books. Nice try B&N but, you should have replicated the old store and just added some big, compy chairs.

Great food, particularly sides that are huge...like their potatoes, broccoli & tabbouli are fabulous! A meal by themselves & so tasty. The food is "spendie", however portions are so large & so good they make two people happy. Doing that you have room to split their luscious fruit compote with a huge dollop of rich vanilla ice cream. The wine... More

Yes, there is a $4 one-bottle coke, and an $18 hamburger touted as "brisket," but it seemed to be just-a-burger. The cafe has that Nordic-and-bookstore look. The staff were very attentive and the manager was wearing a suit with a boutonniere looking quite sharp. The menu had one page of alcoholic beverages (and there was a round table bar area... More

I'm still trying to figure what this is supposed to be. It is not a bookstore coffee shop, where you can linger with your books for some time. Which is frustrating, as that is what is still wanted. Combine that with B&N's reduced footprint, and I don't see this new combination lasting. As a restaurant, the food is good. The... More

We couldn't decide if it was ok, or over-priced. We were not expecting such fancy food. It was expensive lunch! $20 a person, unless you get a tiny appetizer. Diet coke was $3 for the little 10 oz. Decorative bottle. No free refills. Probably not going back. But, the chairs were comfortable. I noticed a lot of people just had... More

I suppose in nordic Minnesota, one could appreciate the severe Scandinavian decor, but this new reworking left me cold. The old cafe is gone, replaced by an upscale "kitchen," which offers decent enough food for the price. But mind you, the menu is slim and the prices higher than the previous cafe. What disappointed me the most was the book... More

The new restaurant is very pretty and comfortable. The food was very good. However, the lunch menu is limited and is completely overpriced. We had a chicken ceaser that was $17 and a brisket hamburger which was also $17. These prices are way too high for lunch in a bookstore, no matter how nice the ambience. These are more like... More
