Since it's a small town and this place was rated #1, we honestly thought it might have been for a lack of choices. Were we wrong! This place is so good! We will totally go back and try the other items on the menu. It has a cozy feel and the service is swift and friendly- great combo! We were... More

This restaurant came highly recommended by the hotel clerk when we checked in. We were not disappointed. My husband had the Northwoods Bowl...excellent!! I had the Cranberry Turkey Melt...again, excellent. The waitress was knowledgeable & friendly. We would definitely dine again should we be back in the area.

We stopped here based on a recommendation from a nearby hotel when we expressed a desire for something beyond fast food. We were rewarded with a very decent meal and friendly service. Sitting at the bar to eat must not be a Midwestern thing but it suits us just fine. The wahoo and pike dish was terrific but my wife... More

Great place to stop for lunch. Not fast food but service is timely. Food is fresh and plentiful. Reuben has real corn beef and sauerkraut- not shaved meat!! This is our stop for lunch while traveling I90!! Clean restrooms!

This was a most attractive restaurant both inside and out. The wood work inside was lovely. We sat in a most comfortable, cozy booth. Service was both pleasant and prompt. We each chose "Shore Lunch"--walleye, beans, and red potatoes. I guess it's their most popular dish and I can see why. We were delighted not having had walleye in a... More

Loved their menu choice. I thought their price point is on the higher side. The place gets super busy so I would avoid rush hour times like lunch and dinner. I was there for dinner around 7pm on a Thursday, it was busy, kinda waited too long to be seated. The staff looked overwhelmed. All in all, I liked the... More

Stopped in Fairmont for dinner on our way to somewhere else. A pleasant surprise. The Grill is upscale, with expert cocktails, a full menu, booths and nice wait staff. Quiet. Great walleye. Stop for the walleye, stay for the ambiance. Yeah, this being the Midwest, they overcook the vegetables, but not too bad. And be sure to read the history... More
