We stopped for a late lunch on a Friday. Service was excellent and we were treated to some samples of German beer prior to making our selection. Our group had a variety of authentic dishes. The sauerbraten, pork snitzel, red cabbage and potato salad were excellent. The dinner rolls were delicious. The ham balls with sauerkraut and cheese could have... More

First time visit. Food was good. Not sure I'd choose this again though. Not so impressive of a place to celebrate a birthday. Asked for nice table online when making a reservation but this was ignored and likely not even seen.

After visiting the special exhibit on Martin Luther and the German Reformation at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, we looked for some German food -- the Black Forest Inn is just a couple of blocks away. I decided to try the Deutschburger casserole (Spaezle with a bit of ground beef on top, covered with cheese. Good, but spaezle is a bit... More

Had dinner here in late October and had a very nice meal. Ham and sauerkraut balls were yummy! Good side dishes too.

Before visiting Open Eye Figure Theater, I treated my family of guys (42, 11 & 9) to a Black Forest feast. I had saurbraten mit spaetzel and red cabbage. This is a meal that I rarely get, and it was on par with great saurbraten served in fine German restaurants. Loved it! My son had the Everything Platz. Relishing the... More

If you crave the distinctive flavors and textures of German food, in a restaurant that honors good food and good customers, look no further. The kitchen does best with traditional flavors. A slide into "sliders" was the only off-note on our first visit. Fantastic schnitzel, spaetzel, potato pancakes, red cabbage, beer, and sacher torte. Highly recommended. Good value. Completely unpretentious.

Black Forest Inn offers authentic German cuisine in a "Bier-Hall" atmosphere. If you are a fan of great Bavarian cooking, beers and wines, you'll enjoy this reliable Minneapolis favorite which has been serving customers for many decades.

They have the slowest, most rude waitress ever! We Waited 11/2 hours to be served ! The dinner rolls were very stale, no plates on the table, had to ask for silver ware, and all we had were cheap paper napkins. We were a large party (17) and three orders were incorrect, they ran out of the special --we were... More

We decided to celebrate our parent' service 50th wedding anniversary here as they were originally married there. We had a party of 17. We were seated at our table with no Welcome. Our waitress was the waitress of evil. She was so very rude to everyone. Took 20 minutes to take our drink order, another 20 minutes to get the... More

Disappointing at many levels. We had a table of seven. It took more than 5 minutes just to get a hostess, and then over half an hour to get our food order taken, and another 45 minutes after that to get the food. The order was wrong; a salad came with no dressing. And the food was bland and really... More
