Excellent fish, shrimp and fried crab claws . Locally owned and conveniently. New Orleans style food, but not the New Orleans price.

We stopped here for lunch on a Monday. We immediately found a table. Our drink order was quickly taken and I love getting my drink in a big glass with ice and a big straw. We all ordered the lunch special which was: red beans and rice, blackened chicken breast, fried okra and a roll. It was delicious.

This is a locally owned restaurant located on a main street. There is ample parking but the restaurant is small and has a cramped seating area. The staff is general friendly and the prices are moderate. There are many food choices available on the menu. Food is tasty and well presented.

Atmosphere was a cross between a McDonald's and a back roads diner. The service was fair, not great. The starter they bring to the table is a plate of small potatoes, one of which was mostly rotten when cut open. Do not order the chicken alfredo, It was old, dry and tasted as though it was both freezer burnt and... More

My husband had craving for oyster poboy & to our delight we found nearby Hawkins had it. So after reading a few reviews on the place, let's give it a try. Big big mistake! Poboy terrible! Had to heat everything up & we stay only 5 min away. Red beans rice very dry tried to add water to doctor it... More

If you're looking for fresh salads, gourmet vinaigrettes or cocktails, this is not the place for you. BUT. If you're looking for authentic soul food -- fried pickles, blackened catfish, fried okra, steak, coleslaw, fries, shrimp and po-boys, this is JUST the place. This place offers authentic, un-fussy food, excellent, friendly service and delicious food.

I, for one, love the atmosphere of this place. It's like eating at a family member's home. Inside, the place looks twice as big as outside. Everyone working there seems really glad you came and the service and attitudes are outstanding. We ate the plate lunch and it's nice to find a place that knows pork chops are NOT supposed... More

Service is good. Ate the lunch special that included catfish, rice and gumbo all in a bowl. I expected New Orleans French Bread with the meal, but instead it was toasted loaf bread. The mix of catfish and gumbo was tasty which about all you can expect for $10.00.

We live in Clinton and eat here fairly regularly. The food is authentic New Orleans fare, and is always good. Portions are ample and service is good unless the restaurant is swamped. The room tends to be a little noisy because it seems everybody knows everybody in the place.
