My former boss invited me to a late lunch October 13, 2016. She has visited many times and ordered a burger with 'comeback' sauce on it and raved about how good it was. This was my first time. I wasn't hungry but, always feeling uncomfortable watching others eat, I ordered a serving (4) of fried pimento cheese balls. They were... More

This is a local's hangout. And it kind of has everything you need. They have solid bar food, not the best, but consistently good. They have a full bar, not a cheap bar, but a good one with decent beer selection. They do charge a cover sometimes and it can get very college-ey. We would go early at 8 or... More

In the days before retirement, my Wife and I were frequent visitors to George Street. Looking for something different than the same ol' same ol', we "rediscovered" a gem in the Downtown offerings. The surroundings were pleasantly familiar, the food reassuringly excellent, and the overall experience extremely pleasant. George Street is repeat visit worthy and we will do this again... More

It is located close to the Greenwood Cemetery..I was hungry and this was the first restaurant I saw. When I came in, I read the back of the menu and learned that this little place had a bit of history. It had been a hotel or boarding house at one time. One brother shot the other on the stairs and... This place looks dark & mid-evil (we mean that in the best way possible!)!The building itself is a beautiful 100+ year building and it show cases its age and beauty via exposed brick and mortar walls and rich wood décor! Located right next to "Two Sisters Kitchen", we ate there and walked right on over to ye "Ole Tavern". It... More

The restaurant was a OK atmosphere yet very old characteristic. The restaurant had a bad smell of smoke and they didn't have a great selection of non-alcoholic drinks that wasn't soda. The service was nice but not very inattentive nor speedy. It took us 7 minutes to even get a menu. It also took them a while to come and... More

I visited this establishment and ordered a cup of gumbo and a hamburger. The gumbo was a chicken and sausage gumbo which was excellent. The bartender told me it was an old family recipe. Killer gumbo!!! The burger and fries were very good. The place has an old neighborhood pub feel like you'd knock back a few, throw some darts,... More

Went here on a week night & sat at the bar, it was full of locals and lively conversation. I had a cup of the seafood gumbo and then the alligator po-boy & portobello fries.. All the food was AMAZING! Had local beers to go with the food & it made for a great dining experience!

Very cool old grocery store given a new life as a tavern. The decor is nice and the servers are extremely friendly. Our waitress was exceptional and made our lunch a lot of fun. The food is good value for the money. We ate there three days in a row because of where we were working. We did not have... More
