My son and I are in town for work. Stayed in the hotel behind the restaurant and decided to check out the restaurant. Everything from the food, service, drinks, and atmosphere was on point. My son doesn't even usually like bbq, and he loved it...here! We'll come again for sure.More
I live somewhere where I don't walk into a restaurant and everyone knows my name. Bayless Jo's was so much fun for me as a visitor to the area, to sit and watch the waitress greet almost everyone by name. It was a great eavesdropping...experience for me, I have to admit. The waitress was like "Hey Joe, how was your son's graduation party?" and "I didn't see Leah at church last week. Is she holding up okay?" Beyond that, the food was GREAT. I had a delicious fried catfish sandwich and my husband had a huge pulled pork sandwich which he said he really liked. We got a big basket of fried pork rinds, gratis, when we sat down. We stopped in for dinner after a Black River Float. We were seated promptly by friendly staff. The food came quickly and was delicious. Drink sizes were ample and appreciated! This restaurant has great service, and the BBQ is very good. The pulled pork sandwich was huge, with h a generous amount of fries. Their fried okra is delicious and more greasy. The specialty drinks are also big, and very refreshing.
Liked everything about this restaurant. It was clean and had great food, service and prices. Recommend the prime rib sandwich, strawberry lemonade, ribs, fried fish, smoked chicken, crispy fries and fried okra. Large menu with a wide variety.
We have eaten here before. The curly fries are so yummy because they have the skin on them. I had the prime rib sandwich and I am picky with those. This one was not fatty, great flavor with white cheese. My husbands pork steak was...probably pir favorite. Wow it was so tender and flavorful. My son had the fried and grilled shrimp which were not frozen. He liked them both but liked the fried the best. We were served very fast on a late Saturday night.More
Stopped by on way home from a float trip. Very good menu choices. Portions matched the prices too. First thing when you sit down you get the free BBQ pork rinds, nice touch. Wife had the BBQ bacon cheeseburger and really enjoyed it. Got the...side salad with it, good size. I had the 3 ribs plate, excellent flavor. Only added sauce to some of it, didn't really need it. For my dude was the BBQ corn bread. Corn bread with shine pulled pork and sauce on it. Everything was delicious.More
1 inch pork steak you could cut with a fork. 3 kinds of home made bbq sauces: original, cherry, and spicy. We went home with bottles of all three. Green beans cooked all day and made with love. Baked beans, okra, potato salad all excellent!...Wish I lived closer we'd eat there so much we could put their kids through college. No joke. I'm not a relative. Lol. the food is amazing, my only complaint is it does take them a little bit to get the food out. The cheesecake is probably my favorite there with a new york strip steak as the main dish.
Camped in the area and decided to splurge since this place was rated so well and we like to support the locals when we travel. Maybe it was a bad night however, wait staff got 3 of the 4 orders incorrect and seemed very confused....The ribs had no meat, the pork steak was significantly overcooked, the burger was undercooked and the "bacon" on it was an equivalent to bacon bits, and the baked potatoes were just mushy. The only highlight was the pulled pork. For a $70 bill it was terrible food and poor service.More
The food here was really good and the portions were large. My cheeseburger was awesome n every way. They're obviously trying to get all the business they can out of their small building and the tables are very close together. They were packed to the...max while we were there. It's probably also a little loud for my taste, but that was no doubt exacerbated by the full capacity crowd and busy waitresses and kitchen staff having to coordinate 500 things at one time. I would shoot for a non-peak time, but I would definitely go back. This was the only time I've stopped here, but every time I've been in town and drove by their building at lunch time the parking lot has been full. That means they're doing something right.More
Wasn't real hungry when we went, but that was ok because they had some half portions on the menu. Had the half pork steak. Fattest one I've ever had. And delicious. Friendly folks, great atmosphere.
Ribs were meaty. They have pork, chicken, shrimp, and fish. Pork Skins served warm and were not greasy. Big servings (was 2 meals for each of us).
Excellent food and atmosphere, out side setting available with Gluten free options. The staff is so friendly!
Went on a Sunday evening around 530, they closed at 7. They were very crowded, with no social distancing. We sat at the last unoccupied table. Found out they were out of chicken, potatoes, but got the beef and pork, both were really good and...large servings. Service was a little slow, was told they had a new cook and some of the girls up front were new too. I would go and give them another chance, since the bbq was so good.More
