Good Lunch with Family

Very nice and clean restaurant, good food and prices, and better than Cheddars. Big portions of food and good ice tea. You get five pieces of catfish with cornbread catfish plate and very good slaw and fries. You get 10 pieces of shrimp with grilled shrimp platter.

Surprise find! Super food! Fine atmosphere! Good prices

FD Grillhouse has a fine and varied menu and super prices in a very comfortable setting. I really enjoyed my Southern Fried Shrimp basket with hushpuppies, fries and cole slaw...not unusual but unusually well prepared. We'll be back!!

Be prepared for a wait for a table, especially on weekends at dinner time. Took about 30 minutes which was not too bad. Seated in nice booth, comfy and big table. Server came by for drink order while we reviewed the menu. Started with fried pickles which were lightly battered and crispy. Ordered the $2.50 house salad, mainly out of curiosity of what $2.50 could buy, it was delicious, sweet and zesty, crunchy fresh salad greens, great value. Ribs & shrimp entree was delicious, had the grilled shrimp and ribs were amazing, smoky and cooked to perfection with yummy bbq sauce. Fries were hot and crispy & coleslaw was juicy and flavorful. I had firecracker chicken tacos which was a nice heat and only $10! We shared a key lime pie for dessert, it was gooey and crumbly and creamy and limey, I’ve used the word delicious quite a few times now, but we’ll earned. Service and food timing were the only things that lost a star.

Firecracker shrimp were good. Service was adequate, server did not know menu or ingredients well. Salmon was well cooked but flavorless without the bourbon sauce, pineapple salsa was a joke. Pineapple tidbits with a very few finely diced peppers. Would have love to see the pineapple grilled and then all ingredients diced the same size, disappointing. The half rack of ribs were over cooked and dry. Fries and coleslaw were good Menu indicates coke slaw was ‘award winning or something similar when asked server didn’t know what was special about it. Affordable but not memorable. Would go again but wouldn’t make it a priority to go back

This restaurant was recommended to us by a lady that was working at the quilt show we attended. Everything was excellent about this restaurant. My friend got the Hawaiian Chicken Breast which came with a rice pilaf , mashed potatoes and broccoli for $9.95. A meal at McDonalds only costs slightly less.

After reading several reviews on FD's, the Clan decided to try it out. WOW!!! Even with the highest expectations, FD's delivered! I called and asked about reservations and call ahead. They have both, so we got our name on the list and headed that way. We were greeted very nicely and shown to out booth quickly. Our server was friendly and gave his opinion on which items on the menu he liked. We started with the Firecracker Shrimp and it was very good. I had the 7 oz. steak and grilled shrimp. It was delicious. The wife had the Breaded Catfish and was very pleased. After we were finished, I asked to speak the "person with the most power and authority" in the building. I was able to speak to Lisa, the owner for a few minutes. She was very generous with her time and allowed me to tell her all the great things I loved about her restaurant. Do yourself a favor and call ahead for a reservation and try one of the best restaurants in Springfield. MH

Better than Texas Roadhouse

Initially, we were going to eat at Texas Roadhouse because we were staying at the Holiday Inn and were told we'd get a 10% discount. We went to be seated and told it would be almost an hour wait before we could be seated. We decided to go right next door to FD's and did not regret it. From the jump we were treated with kindness and hospitality. Our server Tristan was AMAZING. Our drinks were never empty. She took our orders and made some great recommendations for food. Three of us got the Dijon Mushroom Chicken and the sauce was great. I tried the firecracker shrimp, which I didn't get a picture of, because it was just too good to wait to take a picture of. The drinks from the bar were really good as well. Overall, if we lived here, this would be our new go to place. We will highly recommend this place to anyone who visits Springfield.

Best Catfish

This is probably the closest I have ever came to having catfish that tasted like my dad used to fry. It tasted so fresh and the cornmeal breading was so good. People think you have to have all these fancy seasonings and breadings, you do not. My dad used to catch fish out of the river clean them and fire up his coleman stove and cook right there with flour and cornmeal mixture. It was the best. This is what that reminded me of and I enjoyed it a lot. When I visit the area again, I will eat there again.

FDs is a nice family place.The space is very attractive, bright and airy. The menu has something for everyone, and the kitchen does a good job on preparation and platting. We have had the occasional dish come out a little cooler than desired, in the past, but this time all was very good'

Great food, good environment, reasonable price.

Even though they don’t take reservations and there was a line waiting, our group of four got seated right away. Probably, people were waiting for a booth, but we were fine with a table. Wait staff very attentive, food amount was generous (sharing meals was fine) and tasty, especially fried pickles and delicious ribs. Pricing was very reasonable.

Amazing food and service!

We had dinner there on our way to St. Louis. I had the cedar plank salmon that had a bourbon glaze and my wife had a spinach dip pasta. Both were excellent as was the service. The ambiance there is beautiful. Highly recommend this fine restaurant.

My husband and I were in town

My husband and I were in town to spend some time with the kids. We wanted to take them out to dinner and they suggested we try this place. First time any of us ate there. I had the steak, grilled shrimp, baked potato and steamed broccoli. It was fantastic. My husband had Trio of cornmeal fish, chicken strips and stuffed shrimp. The stuffed shrimp was out of this work good. Definitely would go back. Very attentive service.

I have heard many talk about this place, now I get it. Family joint that looks very classy. Service top notch, everyone helps each other get the job done. The thing that sticks out is how low the prices are. Ribs for $16, fish and chips for $12. Massive hand breaded chicken strip basket under $10. Four entrees, two cocktails and the bill was $64. I’ll definitely be back!

We stopped in for dinner while in town. We went there based on reviews. There was about a 30 minute wait. Almost 50 minutes later, after watching people be seated who came in behind us, we asked where we were on the list. The blonde headed girl who was one of the hostesses was very flippant about it. Our waitress seemed rushed and not very personable. The food was great. The service lacked and could be much better.

FD’s Grill House is the best place to eat in Springfield MO! It is also reasonably priced which is a nice bonus.

We come to Springfield, MO on business several times a year. FD’s Grillhouse is our number one place to eat. Tonight we had stuffed shrimp and grilled catfish. The mashed potatoes are delicious, the broccoli cooked perfectly. We are only here two more days and will probably come back tomorrow night!
