I was actually here twice in the last month - once for a luncheon put on by a political candidate, and just yesterday they were at our Symposium with their food truck. The luncheon was very good and featured their smoked brisket, baked cowboy beans,...slaw, and potato salad. Since I do low carb, I only ate the brisket and a bit of slaw, both of which were very good. Others commented on the other sides and remarked on how tasty they were, however. I did not get anything from the catering truck yesterday because the prices were totally ridiculous! For a pulled pork sandwich they were charging $11.00! And it was listed in ALL CAPS beside the entry that that was a SANDWICH ONLY! Plates, which had 2 sides with them, started at $16.00. I told the guy he was way out of my grade and did without. They would have sold out if they had charged their regular restaurant prices and maybe a dollar more for the food truck, but as it was, I only saw 4 people eating during the entire day and we had over 300 in attendance.More

Stopped in here based on the good reviews but we were disappointed in our meals - just "meh". They do have a nice selection of regional beers though, and the service was friendly.

Best BBQ in Northeast Nebraska. The sides are also excellent. You can have a full Rack, 1/2 Rach, Pulled Pork, etc., Plus a beverage of your choice. There are some TV's also to watch favorite sports activity.

My husband and I entered about 5:00 P.M. There were several folks at the bar chatting with the bartender (also the owner apparently) We were not greeted by anyone nor were there signs to indicate if it was self seating or what. We sat at...a booth/table for several minutes until I finally asked out loud if we would have a server or just come to the counter and order. Counter it was, but we didn't go to the right place, so had to walk around to the register and read the menu on the wall. The usual barbeque fare. We ordered a rib special with sides of cole slaw. We discussed the beer selection and I ordered a local IPA, but when it came, it was something else - I know not what, but I didn't like it. Drank it anyway. The food came. It was tender but no discernable smoked flavor to me. My husband kept on about how tender the ribs were, but heck, I can make them the same way in a crock pot. Our bill was over $25.00. I was NOT impressed, but then I am from GA and kind of a barbeque and service snob, I guess. I will not voluntarily return!More

The pulled pork is very delicious, and shredded to very fine pieces, so is easy to eat. The Carolina sauce is a nice flavor twist from the traditional BBQ sauce, which is also available on the tables. Beef, pork and chicken are available, and they...have a nice variety of salads. We particularly enjoyed the corn salad with fritos on top and the baked beans with our sandwiches. Service at lunch was quick and it was a comfortable crowd. The atmosphere is more like a bar than a family eatery, probably due to the pool table right by the entrance. We would definitely encourage others to check out this location, as well as another locally-owned BBQ business. Both have EXCELLENT meats and meals, each with their own style.More

Stopped in for lunch today as had read some good reviews. Had the burnt ends meal which came with 2 sides, I had the beans and corn bread. The burnt ends were just good but not not great, I give them lots of credit for...having them on the menu here though. I found the sides to be just average. Price was about right for BBQ but found the portion size to be on the small side. Overall it was a positive experience and it is nice to see a local establishment like this in Norfolk and I would certainly visit again.More

Six in group. I had pulled pork sandwich and sides of macaroni salad and potato salad. Sandwich was good sized and tasted good. Sides were just ok. Spouse and 3 others had corn salad which which 3 of them didn't like. I tried a little...of my wife's salad and it wasn't very good. It s just a bar; nothing fancy. Staff's children were running around.More

A work group of mine went to Uncle Jarrol's as one of them had enjoyed the catered brisket they had at a meeting. This was a great idea. UJ's has a laid back atmosphere (all meals served with plastic) and is very come as you...are. It appeared to have a local following based on the conversations at the bar and those playing darts. But go for the food! I tried to order the Burnt Ends but had to switch as the group a head of me got the last order. So, I settled on and AMAZING rib meal. Tender doesn't begin to cover the situation. Smoked just right, seasoned perfect, they were a great alternative. Also, order the corn salad. It says Award Winning by it on the menu, and there is a reason. UJ's is a low key, relaxed atmosphere, great place to eat.More
