At that end of the day, Portsmouth has few casual bars/lounges. This offers a nice break from crowds and small spaces. Maryingales has tons of space and a hive circular bar. We've eaten there frequently. The food is usually pretty good and their menu changes frequently. In the warmer months you can sit outside but no reservations. So go early... More

Great place to stand on a deck and look at the harbor. Very crowded bar and not great about making us feel welcome. The guy at the door told us we could not sit in the bar area as they were full. Nope. Lots of empty tables. Didnt try to help seat us. If you want a drink to see... More

We had a fabulous time. The service was great. We had a large party, and we may have been a bit overwhelming but our waitress was patient and accommodating. The food was so good and we loved that most of it, we could get gluten free. We'll be back soon!

We spent a weekend in Portsmouth recently. First time in this great town. Friends had recommended this place. The location is incredible right in the port even in winter. I'm sure the warm weather months are really fun here. The bar is beautiful, drinks are great and the service was very good. We almost went elsewhere for dinner but opted... More

Came in for Sunday brunch. Had a blood orange cocktail for $10 and the crab lobster cakes with spinach and poached eggs. Was perfectly cooked and delicious for $18. Husband had the new England breakfast with sausage eggs and beans. I love the ambience here and the view. Today several families were enjoying the place.

If you like oysters on a half shell, you'll love this spot. As we chose from the large selection of oysters from as far away as Washington State, we overlookedPortsmouth harbor. It was awesome! So, we decided and chose oysters from 6 different locations and loved them all. However, you can in fact tell the difference based on where the... More

Came here for a drink while waiting for our table at an adjoining restaurant. The lighted bar made my wife very happy.

This week we held our Holiday Party at Martingale Wharf and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Although private rooms are available we opted for a table of 8 near the bar. Gordon, our waiter did a nice job recommending appetizers and entrees and a few stood out. Try the Lobster Flatbread with chunk lobster and a tangy sauce. The fresh oysters... More

We walked in for lunch and we welcomed by the staff. The wait staff was very well informed and attentive. We ordered two appetizers to share: the fried Brussels Sprouts with Poke sauce. They were nicely crisp on the outside and the sauce was wonderful. We also had the seared Ahi Tuna with wakame/cucumber salad, avocado, fried wontons, and a... More
