Our party of 14 really enjoyed our entire dining experience at Jumpin Jay's Fish Cafe. First of all, the service from beginning to end was excellent. Our group had Calamari, Crab Claws, and Oysters for appetizers and they were all really good and fresh. The...More

We sat at the bar at the high energy restaurant for drinks and dinner. Sometimes restaurants that have been in business lose their quality and personal touch over time. This is the opposite here at Jumpin Jay's. Fun interactive and personal bartender. Great suggestions and...More

The service was good and the meal (I had Canadian halibut with mashed potatoes, aspergus, and lobster veloute sauce) was ample in portion size especially the fish. The halibut itself wasn't as flavorful as I expected. The lobster veloute sauce was flavorful and compensated for...More

We stopped here for a cocktail. Quite a good crowd and lot of good people watching. Service was good and friendly. Nice Manhattan and my wife's margarita was good as well.

Friendly servers that offered great suggestions on the menu. Everyone in our group enjoyed their entrees, dessert/coffee. Happy that we found this place on a quick trip around Portsmouth on a rainy day.

My husband and I went to Jumpin Jays during the most recent resturant week in downtown Portsmouth. Typically this resturant is out of our price range but we took the opportunity to try the reasonably priced prefix meals. For appetizer I had the muscles in...More

WOW!! The restaurants is nothing special, but the food and service are more than special. We had oysters that were some of the best ever. The haddock special was more than special. Every seafood item we had was prepared excellently.

The food was great and so was the service. We had the mussels, scallops and halibut. The waitress was great at recommending menu items and answering our questions. Would definitely go back to taste more.

The service is mediocre and the food is always disappointing. There is more hype around the place and the food doesn't deliver. For what the meal will cost you, it's not worth the visit.

The service was friendly and efficient and each person in our party of five enjoyed our meals very much. A friend at the meal raved about the raw bar clams. My partner said the King Crab leg grill meal was the best King Crab he...More

Description
Located just two blocks down from Market Square in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Jumpin' Jay's is a local foodie enclave serving refined seafood in a sleek restaurant setting. The quality of fare is unsurpassed, with fish arriving daily from local fisherman as well as some exotic catches from locations such as New Zealand and Ecuador. Four to six varieties of fish appear on the ever-changing "Catch of the Day" menu, complimented by your choice of gourmet sauce. Our raw bar offers an extensive variety of shellfish found in New Hampshire. Our specialties menu offers more traditional flavor, including Maine Crab Cakes, Haddock Piccata and our popular Linguine in White Clam Sauce. The atmosphere is casually hip, with no pretense. Reservations encouraged. Open seven nights a week.
