We were visiting Portsmouth for a long weekend, and had been recommended to have dinner here. We stopped earlier in the day while in town to make a reservation, and while full, they offered to accommodate us in a private functions room. We had a...More

Visited New England on business. Some of us were from the Midwest, I am from Texas. What a treat to visit charming Portsmouth and the Oar House. Started my evening with a superb pomegranate martini. Two of them set the mood for a fun night....More

Ate brunch with some family outside on the Oar House Deck. Was a beautiful fall Sunday and they had live music going which made the experience even better. I ordered the rancheros breakfast tacos which were amazing. For dessert we had the vanilla creme brûlée...More

We had one day in Portsmouth and ate dinner here. It's a rustic pub-like atmosphere with some outdoor seating. We had baked loster and the flat bread pizza. Both very good. We sat at a table inside and had great service.

After a great seat next the water, drinks and apps, it went downhill from there. Entrees took a long time to arrive, and it was a Thursday evening after 7:30. My salmon was dry and the waitress (asian girl) took my knife after the apps...More

The place was open, just a few patrons but five staff members so we thought we'd get a class of wine and look out over the water where the tug boats were sitting. Sign said to wait to be seated, we stood there for several...More

We found the Oar House based on good reviews. It's down a side street from the main "Bow Street line of restaurants". There's an inside part, but across the street is their waterfront deck - and as cozy and well-appointed as the inside was, the...More
