Met 2 of my colleagues here for breakfast. The menu was disappointing. Maybe I've listened to too many legends regarding NJ diners but this one has no combination specials - everything is a la carte - and in addition, the menu was very limited - no chipped beef or sausage gravy - just eggs, pancakes and french toast. So that's... More

Ponzio's has been my favorite diner in South Jersey since childhood... and they are still going strong! After raving about this diner to my husband for five years, we finally had an occasion to eat breakfast here on a trip to Philadelphia. The breakfast, and the legendary cheese rolls, are still outstanding! We both had omelettes with home fries and... More

Great omlettes and sandwiches. This time I had the Ponzio's special club sandwich, turkey club. Delicious food, extensive menu.

Very unhappy with our visit to Ponzio's. Had been there before and it was much better. Very nice server staff but the food is lacking. Vegetables are not as fresh as they could be and based on my experience they seem to have some serious cross contamination issues going on. Very upsetting and the management did not seem to care.... Always great service...always great food....always packed... and always with a smile. We tried this diner at any time of the day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and we always come out of Ponzio's sometimes wondering how consistent their service and food is>

We had an appointment at a local bridal boutique......since we were driving from PA, we over-estimated our driving time and had an extra 45 minutes for a breakfast. We saw Ponzio's and stopped in..........asked if we could get in & out within 45 minutes. The hostess said that we could probably do so if we sat at the bar. Trust... More

My review for this Diner goes as such I have frequented best diner for breakfast several times. Breakfast for two along with a Bloody Mary is an easy $50. The breakfast will not disappoint you and the portion as large as I have never finished my meal but again you're not looking at McDonald's. I have gone back because I... More

Was sat in the closest booth to the door when plenty of other tables were open. A server/hostess leaned back against our table for the entire meal leaving every six minutes or so to seat new customers coming in. Ordered the special featured "ghirardelli" hot chocolate they advertised. On sale for 99 cents I wasn't expecting much, maybe a tiny... More

Good thing you did not complain about price in person! They call the cops!

Ponzio’s Review

CAUTION: Don’t complain to the owner

I have just had one of the worst experiences ever at a restaurant. After spending over 1 hour waiting for our check, once our meal was finished, (yes… over one hour for our waiter to tell us how much we owe) they had the audacity to charge me and my date 18.5% gratuity for their incompetent service.

When I complained and said the service was not even worth 10 % Gratuity and I wanted $2.56 off the bill for lousy service. The owner of Ponzio’s Diner in Cherry Hill, NJ called the police. When the police arrived the officer was very cordial and calmed down the Diner owner, we were able to leave.

Do you believe a Diner owner would call the police over a complaint about incompetent service that could have been settled by allowing a $2.56 Deduction off of a 48.00 bill? ($7.56 of which was unearned gratuity).

I was willing to leave a $5.00 gratuity for the incompetent service. When I made the manager aware of my displeasure, he refused to compensate me and asked me if he wanted to get the police involved. I thought he was joking so said “sure call the police” What a Buffoon.

I have probably had about 100 or so meals at this diner over the last 10 years… I never had a problem with the food or the service. But after this… he has lost me as a customer forever.

I though the Gratuity was a stipend, tendered by a satisfied customer, to a service provider, for a job well done. Since both my children worked as wait staff at several restaurants during their high school and college years, I understand the rules and usually leave a gratuity in excess of 25%. My girlfriend always says I leave too much.

This service was really bad and the owner compounded it (the poor service) with his actions.

After he called the police he said I could not leave until the police arrived, he has us on surveillance cameras and he would file a complaint with the police if we leave. (He should check his surveillance footage to see if he would have commended his staff on how we were served.)

I really like the food there and the only way I will ever return is if I get an apology from this owner. I can assure you that he is not man enough to see his mistake. So I guess… never again at Ponzio's.
