My family moved to Philly and every chance we have to travel to Jersey City to buy Hot Pan De Sal. We also buy liver spread from a Filipino grocer and have a Filipino picnic in the car.

Pandesal was very good and warm, but $2.50 for a sack of 10 isn't exactly a bargain. Nor is buko pie at $11, ok in taste but nothing special and overpriced. Took them 15 minutes to make a cup of halo halo, which was VERY disappointing in taste...would not recommend it to anybody! I won't go back.

My wife and I visited this place. We were looking for some authentic tasting Filipino style baked goods and we found it here. I would say the pandesal was the best I tasted that you can buy locally. I was really impressed. They have a wide selection of other Filipino breads. I would definitely recommend this place if you are... More

Definitely a nice bakery connected to a restaurant where you can pick your food cafeteria style from a selection of hot plates. The fresh Pan de Sal rolls are in bags of 10 for a quarter each, which is a huge bargain, and they're hot and fresh too. There are other types of pastries and desserts to choose from also.... More

Visiting from the Midwest where we don't get to eat at a Filipino restaurant too often, we were eager to try this place. I would not say that we were disappointed but neither were we impressed. The meats seemed like they'd been around for a while and the food lacked the tastiness of Filipino food, particularly the soups. Hence only... More

Philippine Bread House is known in the Filipino community in the area. It sits along Newark Ave north east of the Jersey City court house. The parking lot is small (about 15 cars) and it is very difficult to get out from as the spaces are too tight. There is metered street parking outside but on a weekday, it is... More

We went there on a weekend and bought Bibingka and turned out it was malagkit na minatamisan, at may konting amag na (see picture) Yung puto naman na multicolored ~$5.00, walang mga expiration dates may amoy na rin. Siempre binalot, moisture remained there we dont know since when. The breads were not unique that we should take time to travel... More

I tried the chicken empanada and we had a very nasty experience. I ordered it to go and didn't eat it til we came home .The chicken filling in the empanada was bad. The meat was spoiled. I couldn't return it or call them right away cause it was a Sunday. I bought 8 pieces and it all went to... More

The food here is clean and delicious. I love their halo-halo. They make the best in the area. Ingredients are not too sweet and of a better quality than the other Fil-Am places. There is a proper balance of ice, milk, ice cream to the rest of the stuff in it.

So worth the almost 3-hour drive. Their pan de sal is so good, you have to wait in line to get a bag. For $2 of the 8-piece freshly baked goodness, it can't be beat! They have other pinoy pastries they make: ube/ monggo bread, meringue cookies, espasol, hopia, sapin2, polvoron, Biko, cakes, etc. They also serve lunch and dinner.... More
