Great place to eat! Sandwiches have so much meat on it, they are hard to fit your mouth. We enjoyed the corn beef and pastrami, and the turkey club! Absolutely delicious. My husband and daughter love the pickles and we always have to take some to go. Staff is very friendly and make you feel right at home. You never... More

On our family trip to NY City we went to a couple of restaurants, all of which were huge disappointments. On our way to the Newark airport we stopped at Hobby's Delicatessen. OMG! This place is THE best. If you are looking a real Jewish deli with superb food, look no further, you have found it! Highly recommended.

Some years ago I worked in Newark and sometimes went to lunch with colleagues at Hobby's but it had been more than a decade since I had been there. However, while on jury duty I walked over for a sandwich for lunch. The sandwich was pretty good and very large but very expensive - $15 for roast beef and chopped... More

The hot dogs are the best I've ever eaten. OK- 2 stories to back this up. For a few years now, my best friend and I go to the Newark Museum chili and beer fundraiser every year. He comes from Philadelphia just to eat the Hobby's hot dogs, the only non-chili food at the event. Perfect seasoning and mix of... More

We wanted a quick sandwich when we arrived in Newark, and walked the few blocks from out hotel. We each got great sandwiches, made just as we asked. Friendly staff, and great sandwiches!

I grew up in the Jersey suburbs; Dad had a law firm in Newark where I worked from my youngest memories... I was "paid in Hobby's" often... I fly into Newark whenever I can and always get a couple sandwiches and pickled tomatoes for my flights back to Phoenix.

Three generations of the Hobby family have run this deli, and one of them is almost always there to ensure good service and high quality food. The decor is Formica, so don't go if you want a romantic lunch, but if you want some of the best deli food in New York and New Jersey, definitely stop by. I personally... More

We love Jewish food so had to try this well known deli and we were not disappointed. Great relaxed lunchtime ambiance. We tried the half pastrami on rye and chicken home style soup with matzo ball, it was delicious. Big bowl of complementary pickles on the table and a refillable soda. Very reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and... More

I had a fantastic grilled vegetable omelet. The veggies were very fresh and nicely grilled, and the omelet could have fed three people. I ate half of it. One of my colleagues' order came out a little later than the others, since they used the wrong marinade. The owner was very apologetic and more than made up for the error... More

Hobby's triple decker sandwiches are the tastiest and largest sandwiches in the land!! I really enjoy the corned beef, with pastrami,(real) turkey and Swiss cheese wth dressing. I like mine on seeded rye bread. You can not eat the whole thing in one seating, therefore you have e other half for later. They also have adult drinks in the back bar.... More
