Not far from ferry St, you will find Cata's; place has a great atmosphere, modern look, high ceilings food and drinks are great and also on Thursdays, place offers free salsa lessons.

Quite disappointed in Catas. There were 4 of us eating dinner and all agreed the food was "OK". Nothing special. The service was rather poor. Our waitress seemed completely unable to get the orders of 4 people correct and deliver the food in a timely manner. One entree arrived 25 minutes after all other had theirs.

2 Bars, one pub style bar in the front with a dancefloor and half bar in the back. We got bottle service, which was standard pricing. Good music throughout the night and a great atmosphere. Will defintely go again.

So the decor was already a good sign of a fantastic meal. The place is a little laud but if you ask to seat upstairs, it turns to be a very nice private area. The service was good, they seem to be accommodating but maybe need a little more attention to describe the ingredients and meal preparation to us. The... More

If you're in the Newark Ironbound area be sure to check this place out! This place is located on a corner with no private parking available to be prepared to look for an available street parking spot. The decor of the restaurant indoor and outdoors was exquisite, they even have a patio available in the back for seating. It was... More

Despite the fact that I was asked twice if we were going to a show at the Prudential Center after dinner - the first time when they called to confirm my reservation the day before and again upon arrival at the restaurant - service throughout the meal ranged for absent to extremely slow. We were seated for at least 30... More

I went to Catas for a party with friends. We had the small loft area reserved upstairs which was great since it was private. The tapas was amazing especially the bacon wrapped figs with gorgonzola cheese. I had both the white and red sangria. I enjoyed the white better. After 10 pm all the tables are cleared out of the restaurant... More

We stopped by last Sunday for an early dinner. It was our third time at Catas. The tapas were great and the garlic shrimp excellent. Service was unsophisticated, but friendly and generous. Desserts are made in-house. Prices are very reasonable. The decor in the dining room reminds me of Barcelona, and particularly Gaudi. Be forewarned, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights,... More

Found this little gem on a Wednesday night and enjoyed the half-priced bottle of wine along with some delicious tapas. We got a variety of tapas and appetizers to share and everything was excellent. I also had a salad that was really fresh. Our waitress was great and even brought over tastes of the wine we asked about. Highly recommend... More
