We greatly enjoyed a meal here with some family members, thanks to our seeing other reviews on Trip Advisor. The weather was nice for October, and we were able to eat outside which was lovely. The service we received from the owner /chef and his...wife was terrific, and the food was wonderful. All of our dishes were really interesting and quite tasty. We don't get to New Jersey very often, but next time we will make sure to have a reason to eat here again in Parsippany! Highly recommended.More

We had stopped going to Gourmet just because we were overdoing it! So now in 2020 we dropped in w/out reservations at 6 PM; no problem. Hostess was gracious and accomodating. The dining room is well appointed and very clean...sparkling crystal, crisp linens, apprpriate lighting...and paternal photos adorn the walls. It's byob and theyt are equipped to set up correctly. Ice water offered w/out hesitation. The bus man is efficient, friendly and works in step w/ the sole waitress. Take out meals were popular and wait time was nil for those customers. We started w/ salads...large, crisp and lightly dressed. Bread and whipped sweet butter were servred; the rolls warm, either focaccia style or plain ciabatta-type. We passed on dessert but ordered the bread pudding to go...THAT was the only weak spot of the evening.....bland, rubbery and not memorable. The total tab was 70.00 plus tax and tip.....pricey but nice once in a while.More

This is the third year we have stopped at this restaurant returning from Florida. The food and service are both excellent and the BYOB makes it very affordable.

My colleagues and I were in town for a business meeting and met at Gourmet Cafe beforehand for lunch. We were the first customers in the restaurant and for a while I was wondering if we had picked a bad place. Soon enough the crowds...arrived and so did our food. I had a very tasty breaded chicken wrap, which was recommended by the staff. It was good, but not quite as great as advertised. If I went back I'd try something else because the size of the crowd told me the food must be really good!More

This was my first time at the Gourmet Cafe - but it definitely won’t be my last. We made a reservation for our party of six. We were warmly greeted by Connor. The menu and the specials were so inviting it was a struggle to...choose. We shared the arugula salad with fresh figs and the mussels as appetizers. Our party likes lighter fare with flavor. They modified the preparation of 2 dishes to meet our requests. We had swordfish, salmon, shrimp, scallops, pasta and a children's meal - all tasty and well proportioned. After dinner the adults enjoyed cappuccinos while our youngster had ice cream - plenty enough for everyone to gets taste. The owner/chef stopped by after the meal, which is always a nice touch. This is dining at its best and was a wonderful experience!More

The food is always fresh, delicious, plentiful and beautifully presented. The service is warm, attentive and always kind. And, if you are lucky, and you usually are, the owner/chef, Matt Pierone, might be able to extricate himself from the kitchen, for a short time and...make the rounds of his guests, making old friends happy to see him and new visitors into old friends as well. This restaurant knows it’s job and does it admirably!More

I can’t wait to go back! Napa salad and pinnoli nut encrusted scallops were amazing as appetizers. I had had the orange glazed salmon which was delicious over veggies. My friends all had pasta and loved their meals especially the vodka capellini with shrimp and...scallops. Great hot cappuccino. I wanted the cheesecake cannoli or the bread pudding but the girls were trying to be good. Ugh Wanna go for lunch as well. Small place with fabulous food and lovely wait staff! BYOB as well.More
