This is an incredible restaurant. The steak, the duck, the tuna…. all specials that were amazing. A lovely restaurant that is right off Route 80 in Rockaway NJ (5 minutes off the exit). Our bar maid / server Allison was so nice and so personable....This is is a super high-quality restaurant at fairly reasonable prices. An easy 5 Stars.More
Navona always had great gnocchi, but tonight it was too moist and soupy, no texture. The pieces were falling apart on my fork. Noisy too, the place was full. Hope it gets better 😟
First time here. Went without reservations, and was able to get a seat at the bar after about 30 minutes. Bar area seats about 10-12...some booths behind the chairs at the bar. They do bring you a small dish of Bruschetta with bread....Started out with...Sausage Positano...Sweet Sausage was excellent over Canelinni beans, plum tomatoes, garlic (alot) & Olive Oil...about 6-7 nice pieces, for dinner my wife had the Chicken Francese over Angel hair and loved it...I had the Zuppetta....3 nice size shrimp, 3 scallops (not a scallop person but they were ok), clams were nice size, mussels were kind of small, but overall a good mix. I got it over White. Wine and Angel Hair and it was very good!!!!!!!! Right mix of everything and right amount of Wine to add moisture. What a dessert!!! I saw the guy next to me order it and I tried it and I am glad I did!!!! The Mousse Tyrolese of white chocolate mousse drizzled with a raspberry-chambord sauce was awesome and big!!!! You definitely tasted the chambord which I loved. I could not finish this but wanted to go back for more!!!! AWESOME one of my favorites to date. My wife had the Limoncello Cake and it was very good and soft!!!! Overall a great meal and cant wait to go back again....The bartender (dont remember her name) was very friendly and so busy but kept checking on our food, and was always making sure my water glass was full. Overall great service and I highly recommend and would go back again!More
This restaurant had always been excellent. We went on a Monday afternoon for lunch-party of 3. The service was great, but the food wasn't. The NY strip steak Italian sandwich was tough. I had an appetizer-eggplant fritters on a bed of spinach. This was bland....This visit was disappointing. We had better meals at the family style Rockaway River Barn restaurant.More
Whether its lunch or dinner this restaurant is always terrific. Great staff and Marco the owner extend a warm welcome and consistently deliver on high quality and delicious meals. My absolute favorite in that area. If your looking for a great place to dine that...can accommodate everyone's taste buds - this is the place. 10 out of 10.More
This is our favorite restaurant, and although it is not just for special occasions, there is no better place to celebrate a special day. The food is first rate..tonight we had oysters for an appetizer and sirloin steak and veal medallions. The wait staff is ever vigilant...always...checking on your meal. Marco, the owner, makes sure that everything runs smoothly. Tonight there were two parties going on but unlike some places, tables were not neglected to care for the parties..it was exceptional service as usual. Navona is the best place in Morris County..and deserves the recognition it gets...if you have never dined here..do yourself a favor and go...you will be glad you did.More
Went here for our first night out in a year. Got there and the owner seated us outside , mentioned that he was going to bring out another heater (they had only three in a very large outdoor area), we didn't ask for it but...it was nice to hear , unfortunately we never saw him again or another heater. Also one of the existing heaters went out early on and noone ever restarted it. So we sat there for a half hour before we were given a menu, another half hour passed until they came back for our order. Appetizers arrived pretty quickly , the carpaccio was decent, the fried calamari with habanero jelly would have been awesome but for some reason they dredged the calamari in the sauce and made it completely soggy, wish they had served the sauce on the side or just underneath. Took another half hour after the appetizers before the main courses came. I don't mind taking a while to eat dinner but the more annoying thing is that our server never stopped to see how we were doing during the evening. I got the chilean sea bass calabrese. It was a very small portion for 30 dollars, on a bed of linguini that was swimming in olive oil. There were 4 half stalks of asparagus. There was no spice on the fish and the peppers mentioned in the description turned out to be a tablespoon of diced bell peppers used for garnish. How it was "calabrese" I have no idea. My wife got the veal osso bouco for 48 dollars. It was decent but nothing special for the price, I've had much better for much cheaper many times. The server showed no interest in us the whole night , I would expect much better service and food for a meal for two that cost $225 with tip. Save your money and find a restaurant that cares what it's doing.More
I need to be careful here because the incorporation of too many superlatives tends to cause skepticism in a review. But I can state unequivocally that Caffe Navona's rating as the "best Italian restaurant in Morris County" is not without merit. We went to Navona...last night for the first time at the invitation of friends. From the get-go it did not disappoint as we pulled into the ample parking lot with wide spaces. The soft lighting and unobtrusive piano bar inside provided a lovely ambience. The staff, including Marco the owner, made it their mission to treat us as friends, if not family, and to accommodate our every preference. The complimentary bruschetta, which arrived when we were first seated was out of this world. Phenomenal calamari for an appetizer: lightly breaded and oh so tender. For a main course, I ordered the NY strip steak. Cooked to perfection, as was my boyfriend's filet mignon. The creme brulee for dessert—excellent (of course). Nothing more to be added other than to declare without reservation that Caffe Navona is one of the warmest all-round best restaurants at which we've ever eaten. Looking forward to revisiting, perhaps to dine al fresco on the patio when the weather moderates.More
Hands down the best restaurant in New Jersey! Excellent food over the top! And the owner Marco treats us like family. The food is outstanding from the pasta to the fish all fresh anything ordered you will love it! No need to travel anywhere else!...And the desserts are to die for. The ambiance makes you not want to leave! FIVE STAR IN OUR BOOK!More
Recently enjoyed drinks and dinner at Caffe Navona. All precautions for safety were observed. The waitstaff was excellent. The evening was lovely. The bartender mixed our drinks perfectly. The food was delicious. Try the pollo spada verde. Music was provided by a talented guitarist. Compliments...to the owner, Marco, who does an excellent job of managing his establishment. His pleasant demeanor is an added plus!More
Little of the beaten path if coming off route 80. Pulled up onto track 46, valet parked. Greeted at door by busy owner Marco. Place had a nice vibe, pretty spaceious, gentleman at piano bar was most enjoyable. Limited menu because of busy night. Seated...promptly, waters, breads & bruschetta soon followed service was very good, few drinks, couple of nice appetizers, never felt rushed. Main courses were priced right and the main meals were spot on. We finished by sharing a desert with some coffee & espresso. Owner stopped by to ask if all went well which it did. Nice to have a hands on & present owner instead of a chain restaurant, you can tell the difference. Offered us a complementary cordial which we sadly turned down because of driving but thought was nice. Will definitely return because of good service, food and a appreciative ownerMore
We have eaten here off and on for many years. While the ambiance and staff are great, the food quality is inconsistent. I’ve had super meals here and really terrible ones. Don’t order anything with red sauce because it is over priced and they over...sauce things. I got a pasta dish that was more like stew or soup than pasta. The boulenaise sauce is not recommended.More
We visit on occasion for Friday drinks at the bar. Alyson, our bartender is great. Appetizers are consistently good. Our Dinner trips are less frequent but always worth the wait.
We go there a lot. Service this night was terrible. Took 20+ minutes to get butter for bread. Someone's salad came 20+ minutes after it should have. We were party of 5. At least half were disappointed with their food. The piano player was really...loud. Marco was not there that night.More
