Great food, great drinks and great atmosphere. My son loves going for an early dinner there cause he feels like he is in a real life Thomas the Train episode when the trains go by. Great wine and beer selection also. 2 thumbs up!!!!

Great for going out for wife or with kids and the whole family. Amazing setting inside the train station. So cool. Kids love trains going by, coloring trains, and the magician on Sundays. I love having our own neighborhood bar with great food.

Great casual atmosphere. Service is fine. Great place to have a cocktail in the summer outside. Often has local musicians playing Friday and or Saturday nights.

Nice atmosphere with two sections: a bar area and dining. We went to eat and I had the fajitas which were excellent. They give you a lot of food. Followed with desert the chocolate mousse cake. Awesome. The band played all night. Poet Section! The music was great not to loud. A wonderful evening.

Decent food served at outdoor tables. Food is good but nothing special. Burgers very good. Located at Short Hills train station. Efficient service. Pleasant evening atmosphere. You certainly hear the noise of passing trains but that's all right.

Such fun to visit the Boxcar for drinks, shared appetizers and casual fare. There is usually live music which makes for a vibrant bar scene, but the tables in the adjacent room offer a slightly more quiet dining experience, while diners can still enjoy the music. This is a regular stop for us. Always a great vibe and fun night.

We've been a few times with our sons. Super convenient to park at the station, sit indoors or outdoors and still be able to get a view of the train as it's coming to pass, and the kids menu has a picture of a train to color on the back. Mom and dad could grab a drink too; we couldn't... More
