This is where go when I want a great coffee and pastry in quiet surroundings. Tucked away behind the main street, away from the crowds it's also the best place to go and cool down in very hot summer weather. Great friendly service.

Its a hidden from the main street restaurant, but if the owner is cooking, you in for a surprise, great food, you will not expect that great food when you walk up to the restaurant. He is serving you food that you expect in a well known restaurant in big portions.

Hidden just off the main road through Franschhoek, we had a deliciously simple lunch - I had Caesar salad and all the other options looked good too. Worth a visit

A stroll down a garden path to the restaurant is so worth while. Had the truffled scrambled eggs and it was very delicious. With I were around longer to try more dishes from this restaurant . The coffee is also good. Great food for starting the day!

The duck liver parfait was unbelievable. The rest of the food was also gorgeous. The service was fine. The waiter was a really friendly dude. The only thing was that it was a little tricky to find. Whatever you do, don't use google maps to get there. It took us to the total wrong place. We eventually found it by... More

during our stay in South Africa. The food was mediocre and my duck was almost too salty to eat. Would not recommend nor go back, although for some reason the place was full so I must be missing something

No frills, just good food. Very little else to say. My amazing potato , bacon, basil & chili soup was superb and the chicken sundried tamato and brie ravioli - great. Really good food without too much fuss. Authentic. From the heart. I really like it.

Thank Reenwoud

Based in the small village of Franschhoek in the Western Cape. Franschhoek is renowned world wide for Haut Cuisine and Fine Dining.
Cafe des Arts is neither Haute Cuisine nor Fine Dining!
Cafe des Arts is a simple, rustic, relaxed restaurant where all that matters is the food.
There are no table cloths, no silver service and the food is from the pan to the plate. If you're lucky, you may even get some cutlery! -
