We checked the reviews and were happy to find that they were correct!! Best chicken fried steak I've had in a long time!! It's clean and the staff was very friendly and provided great service.

We were in town for the morning to see Billy the Kids grave and went here on a recommendation. So, so, so glad we did. Best green chili I have ever eaten. Ask for a sample if you want to test the heat level. I ordered the blue corn tortilla enchiladas which made an excellent lunch.

Very good New Mexico food. Family owned and home cooking. Check out the bar that is over 100 years old!

While traveling to Texas for Christmas, we stopped at Fred's. We chose Fred's because it had good reviews and is #1 of all the other restaurants in town. My husband and I ordered beef fajitas. The portion was very generous and tasted great. The food was hot and service was good. We would eat there again if we travel this... More

If you want the local flavor of good New Mexican Food, Fred's is the place. A place where locals go and the food was outstanding. A great place to eat.

Across the hwy from the Rv park so a great place to unwind after a long day on the road. The beer is real cold and the blue corn enchiladas were very good. Friendly wait staff and attentive bar tender.

The Green Chile Cheeseburger is the unofficial State Dish of New Mexico, and they have the best that we have ever tasted.

This seemed to be a popular place for locals but I doubt I would return. It had a nice atmosphere and friendly service but the wait for our food, a hamburger and BLT, was very long, and not worth waiting for. My BLT was in white bread with too much mayo and a little greasy. The burger was just a... More

Went here for dinner, Fred's has Mexican food and some southern choices. This restaurant has the best Chicken Fried Steak I have ever had! I only wish it wasn't an eight hour drive from my house. ( maybe that's a good thing ;) ) if you are in this small town and Fred's is open you have to try this... More

Get the X-Con...You can order it with green sauce or red sauce...but if you're brave...order it Christmas style! There are other fantastic choices, but X-Con is where it's at! If you're wanting a good meal...look no further than Fred's!
