Buffalo burger made from LOCAL buffalo. And you really should get the pretzel bun with your burger! I had the mushroom swiss and it was delicious. And if you love okra, you better have theirs because it's so good! Also, you should also try the local root beer. Very good too. We were so full we didn't get to try... More

hidden gem? hidden treasure? overused adjectives, but in this case completely accurate. great service, charming atmosphere, great food. if you leave hungry it's your own fault. I'll be back! The entire community is an unexpected surprise. plan on adjusting your days schedule.

Happy we stopped here, and while this sandwich was on special, it was definitely memorable! The grits were also flavorful and peppery - just the way I like them. We were driving so I didn't avail myself, but the beer list looked like a great local selection.

We decided to stop in for a late lunch while traveling on the turquoise trail. Nice little place with indoor and outdoor seating options. The food was delicious and the only "complaint" we could have was that the portions were bigger than we thought they would be! Very glad we decided to stop here!

Stopped for a Saturday get out and for lunch at the Hollar. BBQ brisket sandwich and shrimp and grits, both great. Service was personable and attentive. Would definitely go again.

Stopped on our way to Santa Fe. What a great surprise to have a new twist on a BLT, fried green tomatoes! So yummy! Great service, lovely outside dining! A must stop on the Turquoise Trail!

loved the outdoor atmosphere, but was served a burnt chile relleno...I should have sent it back, but did not as we had to hit the road soon afterwards. I ate a few bites, then stuck mostly to the veggies, which were terrific. My kid loved her burger--I think that is the thing to get there. When teh waiter asked about... More

I was on vacation to Albuquerque to visit family last month. We had originally intended to go to Madrid for the day and have lunch at the Mine Shaft Tavern. When we arrived in Madrid, we tried 3 different entrances, at the Mine Shaft, and all the doors were locked. A nice man stuck his head out of one of... More

I had not visited MADrid (the pronunciation is key!) for years and decided to head out to check it out on a recent trip to Santa Fe. It’s a completely charming ghost town about 30 minutes from Santa Fe with loads of shops and artisans. We headed to The Hollar for lunch and were delighted that they were not only... More

Not knowing what to expect, we stopped in for a late lunch after spending hours roaming through Madrid's artsy shops. We enjoyed an appetizer of chile cheese fries before having a lunch of chiles rellenos. Delightfully crispy and smothered in 'Christmas chiles' with a side of fried okra. Huge portions--we should have shared!
