Whenever we feel like German Food we go to the Oak Chalet and I look at the menu and then I order the Sauerbraten no dumplings but potato pancakes and I'm never disappointed. Would definitely recommend the Oak Chalet.

The week before Christmas I was hoping for a hearty German meal in a festive decorated restaurant, but sadly I didn't get that at The Oak Chalet. Yes, there were decorations and the portions were plentiful, but my entree- beef rouladen - was the driest piece of meat I've ever gotten at a restaurant. I am surprised it was served... More

It is getting harder to find good German restaurants but the Oak Chalet remains open 11 months a year with good, consistent, reliable food at a reasonable price. Owner hails from the old Sunrise Village for the old timers and you still can feel the same warm, friendly atmosphere.

Went for dinner for two - and was pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. The menu has many authentic German dishes, from different sausages to my favorite: Veinershnitzel. Beer was cold, rich and good. Service was very good, and menu selection quite wide. Definitely recommend.

My husband and I went for dinner recently. It was terrific! Nice bread basket, my husband had the stuffed mushrooms appetizer which he really enjoyed. I was torn between the goulash and the sauerbraten for dinner, but it turns out that the goulash was the soup of the day. I had that as an appi. It did not disappoint! We... More

The atmosphere was interesting, authentic furnishings, it was like an oak chalet ! The food was just so ,so, the salad was terrible ,a scoop of shredded carrots, cole slaw ,limp marinated cucumbers and lettuce, awful. The bread basket was boring, sliced rye bread and dried up rolls. The main dish was a little better,my daughter got the sauerbraten which she liked, had a... More

I used to travel to Queens for German food until I discovered Oak Chalet. Try the Rouladen. Also try the Goulash soup. The servers are friendly and efficient. You won't be disappointed.

Though they've been at this park like location for many years, I had never gone till recently. The custom decor and furnishings speak to decades past, with many items coming from the Sunrise Village restaurant the family owned previously. The food and service are excellent. The menu is a tad on the small side, but this allows then to turn... More

Without a reservation you can wait a bit but the food is so fresh and delicious. The black forest cake made fresh right on the premisis everyday along with the flatbreads on the table. The draft beer Is the coldest I have ever had. I've been there 3 times now and have not had a bad meal. Had been driving... More
