Dined on Grandparent's Day, Sept. 12th, 2021. I brought my mother-in-law and wife for a quiet meal. Wait time was not too bad as they weren't taking reservations. Previously this year, they took reservations for Mother's Day and yet one month later on Father's Day,...they weren't taking reservations, Go Figure. Anyway, the Maitre D' sat us directly across from a table of 8 that had finished their dinner and remained at the table ordering drinks. Jamie S. was our supposed server. We ordered the 36 Easy Peel Shrimp as an appetizer. I ordered the Mariner's Delight and the ladies had the Sliced Steaks. Suddenly, a loud roar came from the table of 20 somethings watching the football game. Every score either team made, they were increasingly louder. This went on for an hour throughout our dinner. If we hadn't already ordered, we definitely would have left this restaurant. Listen, I love football and my New York Teams, but this is not a Sports Bar or your living room. It's a RESTAURANT where people go to have a nice dinner. The Maitre D' or the staffers could have placed us farther away from the obnoxious group who evidently had no consideration for the other diners. This went on for over an hour, every 5 to 10 minutes. know Mr. Guido was not around as he would not have this type of behavior in any of his 4 restaurants. As they say; "When The Cat's Away, The Mice Will Play." But our dinner only gets better. Our server comes to the table with our entrees. I asked what happened to the Shrimp Appetizer ?? Oh, I forgot, I can still order you one. I said No, that's why they're called appetizers because they are served before the meals. I also told her the table across from us, that had finished their dinner hours ago, was very loud and boisterous. She retorted with, "Well they're just having fun !!" Really?? Well we are trying to enjoy a quiet dinner. Now I know most people are not working and staying home because of the "Biden Bucks" and good help is hard to find, but in my 50+ years of dining, this is the all time worst server I have ever experienced. As I stated before, the food is very good. Mr. Guido needs to improve his staff and protocols.More

We are summer regulars at Port of Call and are generally pretty satisfied with our experiences there. Most recently I found myself somewhat disappointed. Not disappointed enough to not go back but will hope for better next time. I know that establishments are struggling for...help so diners need to keep that in mind. No bread this trip and no return to check on meals or beverages, and we had to request the check. I know establishments are struggling for help and we were willing to overlook the lesser service than in the past. What really hit home was the sticker shock over the increased prices. We are used to paying ‘fine dining’ prices for fine dining, but paper cups? some food served in plastic baskets? Not for me. The new discount for cash is a plus.More

Our seafood dishes were tasteless and dry... would not order again. Drinks were initially delayed long beyond expectation. Then when want to order more, I was left waiting so long that I did not order seconds... wait staff appeared poorly trained.

Frank Guido's Port of Call in Catskill is a great place for outdoor dining. One may drive there via car or boat from the Hudson River. They do not take reservations so parties may have to wait for a table, especially on weekends. Our party...of 4 went on a Friday around 5:45 and our wait was only about 15 minutes. We were seated right near the water which was very nice. Bring your sunglasses because not all tables are shaded by the canopy. We enjoyed watching the boats on the water and family of ducks. Members of our party enjoyed the clam chowder, and shrimp fresca. I had grilled chicken w/ avocado, aioli sauce, lettuce and tomato on a brioche roll with fries. The fries were good and came out piping hot. The sandwich was very hard to eat due to the aioli sauce so I used my fork and knife. It was average. Unfortunately, half way through my meal I noticed that I had eaten some of the paper that was under my sandwich and drenched with the sauce. Oops! With the bright sun I didn't see it. We have eaten here over the years and attended several parties and have enjoyed the food. The staff was very friendly.More

The place appears to be super busy and popular and the waterfront atmosphere and fine food is obviously why this is the case. There were four of choosing three different entrees, and everyone was happy with their choices. I come from Long Island and usually...don't expect much in the way of seafood at an inland city like Kingston, but "Port of Call" forced me to throw that preconception out the window. Excellent specialty cocktails for the ladies, a good beer selection and perfectly mixed "Stoli" martini made for a perfect dinner while reconnecting with my wife's family.More

This restaurant does not take reservations. We waited an hour and 15 minutes to be seated because they “were backed up”, which apparently is their mantra. Our waitress came to take drink orders after we had waited long enough to make our choices. Then before...starting she failed to tell us they were out of three menu choices, making my son in law have to choose quickly. Appetizers came out in a timely manner as did our grand children’s meals. That’s where it fell apart! After over an hour I hunted down our waitress to ask about our meals. She told me I needed to understand that they were backed up in the kitchen. The whole situation got worse from there…1. The floor manager came over to inform us that they were short staffed. 2. I needed to understand that they were recovering from a pandemic. 3. They pulled our ticket and put it to the front of the line. 4. She would guarantee that our meals would be served to us within 5 minutes. All the while being very loud about the fact that I was unhappy and not being very understanding. Once our meals did arrive I was unable to even eat mine which was over cooked and tasteless. My husband said his was ok but not great. This happened once before, the long wait for our food and long wait to be seated, so this will be the last time we will be visiting the Port O Call!More

Went to Frank Guidos on a late Saturday afternoon with my wife and 2 boys. Started off with the ceaser salad which my wife said was excellent, lots of shaved cheese. One son had the seared ahi tuna which was excellent, other son had the...chicken wings which he said was just ok. I had the fried calamari which was excellent. Wife had the stuffed chicken, stuffed with cheese and asparagus which she said was overcooked, didn't care for it. One son had stuffed shrimp which he said was very good. My other son had the chicken parm over pasta which he said was good, very large portion. I had the mariners delight, 3 shrimp, 3 scallops, 1 stuffed baked clam and a piece of fish stuffed with your normal (mush stuffing) all was very good. Our waitress was Jenn, who was excellent, very knowledgeable and good at what she does. Nice views good food excellent service and decent prices. Would go back.More

Sitting outdoors on a beautiful day! We had steamed clams which were very good. My husband had cod and I had a salad with shrimp. It was just what we expected. I have been reading reviews about the staff and I have to say that...Josh was one of the best servers we have had in a long time. He was friendly, efficient and professional. We will definitely be back. We had a nice time and a good lunch.More

Decided to take advantage of a sunny day and visit Port of Call. Quickly seated at a table of our choice on the patio facing the creek. Shout out to Josh, for his prompt and courteous attentiveness explaining the menu, specials and making a few...suggestions. Wife and I split the calamari appetizer, which was delicious and both order Lobster Rolls. Perfectly shelled and cooked with to die for French fries. Wine list is ample and reasonable. Clifton Park is not that far from Catskill, so we will visit often over the Summer.More
