While visiting family in the area we had a terrific dinner outside at New York Restaurant. The cuisine is Polish so it's not a typical menu, and that turned out to be a great thing. All our dishes were ample and excellent: burrata and red...wine poached octopus to start, then pork schnitzel, basa (i.e. kielbasa) and gnocchi, and scallops over risotto. We had plenty of leftovers! The cocktails were particularly good, especially the Gin & Juice and the Pumpkin Spice Martini. Our server was just wonderful -- patient and helpful. The "sidewalk café" setting in front of the restaurant with scattered space heaters was very pleasant, with a European feel. I hope they keep it in the future. Of all the restaurants we dined in during our stay, including in the nearby town of Hudson, this was the best. Be sure to go!More

There was a 45-minute wait for a table, but two bar seats opened up as we arrived so we took them. So glad we did. Bartender Michael was friendly and made the evening fun. We ordered the "Taco Tuesday" special: $5 for a taco, Margarita...or nachos. My veggie and fish tacos were flavorful, and the Margarita (a generous pour) was great. The bar ambiance was great. All in all, a more sophisticated vibe than we expected in the small town of Catskill. We will definitely stop again if we are in the area.More

I seldom write a bad review, so I'll do my best. We sat out front by the sidewalk and the furniture looked as if they just found it at a yard sale! Our server was friendly enough, but just average. We started out with pierogi...appetizers. There were three orders of different kinds. After we all started eating we realized they were mixed up and we had to send them back, explaining that since it is covid we are not switching plates with our friends. They did replace them - they were luke warm and I had a hair in my sour cream. Not a good start. All of our meals were warm at best. When a ten year old says she was looking forward to biting into piping hot food, need I say more? We were looking forward to a nice meal and getting back in the swing of things after COVID. When we got our bill, nothing was taken off and we got a card for an order of free pierogi. No thanks. I do wish them well, because the indoor area looked pretty cool and there are a lot of positive reviews.More

My son and I try to pick a restaurant once a month somewhere in between us. He lives in Albany and myself in Newburgh. Today’s random selection was New York Restaurant in Catskill and I must say an excellent choice. Our server was very attentive...and the food was quick, hot and delicious 😋 We both had the Flatbreads him the chicken and me the sausage with sauerkraut. Great choices can’t go wrong with either one. Thank you for serving us today. We will be back again.More

Service and food was good. Clean and well decorated. Reasonably priced. Broad menu with good salads. We had the polish plate, lox and bagel sandwiche and a couple of salads. Everyone was happy with their meals. We were given a suggestion to try a small...bakery across the street for Catskills famous locally made jane’s ice cream. It was okay but we didn’t feel it fit the bill as the best ice cream we would ever have. Not much going on in the town.More

My wife I and dined here twice now, the first with family and the second time just us. Both times the food was completely on point. We have gotten cauliflower wings and burgers both times with the flavors and levels of service very good. Our...second visit did yield a slightly longer wait time, however when the food comes out as good as it has, waiting doesn't seem as bad. Aside from taste, service is very friendly and attentive and pricewise everything is fairly reasonable as well. Look forward to revisiting.More

We went for the Sunday Brunch and enjoyed the Crab Benedict and bottomless mimosas. Our server was friendly and attentive. We even took a few dozen perogies home with us

one of Our favorite restaurants in Catskill. Friendly staff, delicious food. Indoors now and feel very safe. Tables spaced apart. Everyone wears mask when necessary.

Came for Brunch as we had reservations. The girl at the front crossed out our name in the reservations book and said follow me. She scuttled toward the kitchen without seating us. I said to my wife, this must be our table ?? My wife...said "Yes, the waitress just pointed at the table." Nevertheless, we sat down and removed our masks. The waitress, who never introduced herself, asked if we would like some drinks besides the water. I said the water is fine for now, but we will have a couple of beers with the meal. Well, she brought out the beers immediately and not with the meal as I instructed. My wife agreed she heard me tell her. My wife had the "Tour Of Poland" and I had the "Factory Burger". Both meals were great and authentic. As we were eating, a woman seated at a window table of 3, got up and proceeded to the bathroom WITHOUT HER MASK. As we finished our meals and asked for the check, this same woman again gets up and proceeds to the rear of the restaurant, passing by our table WITHOUT A MASK. No staff made an effort to confront her, as they didn't seem to care of the other patron's welfare. I was seated facing the very front of the restaurant and I could not see if this was occurring in the rest of the restaurant behind me. We did not feel safe at all and will not return here in the future.More

I was surprised by the amount of alcohol in the mixed drinks. I personally enjoyed the Polish Dinner cocktail - the house trademark. We've limited ourselves to the soup and appetizer which was sufficient for the dinner even after the day of hiking. The beef-and-barley...soup was both filling and delicious. So was the sweet potato terrine.More
