Great food, a unique and fun experience. I enjoyed the way the dishes were delivered and the setting was sublime.

Having travelled to Lourdes over the past decade, this May (2016) was the first I ever revisited these caves with a school pilgrimage group. All I can say, is that I wished I had discovered this sooner! It was by far one of the best attractions I have ever been to! Fully breath taking and the variation of scenery was... More

We did not expect this when we arrived at the cave hotel next door. It was packed out but as it was a nice evening they let us sit outside to eat. It's a set menu of a local speciality the fouace with mushrooms, beans, meat plus cheese and salad and a delightful pear and chocolate tart plus an aperitif... More

Beware! This place has a set menu. You sit, have an aperitif and then the fouace begins! Fouace, fouace and more fouace. Fouace is a cross between a small baguette and pita bread. You stuff it with Jardon pate. You stuff it with mogette you stuff yourself. Very good. Very authentic. Very filling.

Wow, such a wonderful experience, we had a group lunch here and it was delicious. The servers are sweet and charming, the caves felt good to be in and food was unusual and interesting, the best rillettes I’ve every had! Such a charming location. You can go in to watch the bread being baked, they serve these little rounded pita-like... More

Expected traditional Anjou food at this troglodyte restaurant - simple well cooked fare. What we got was traditional but not well cooked and 24 euros for four courses might be cheap but it was not value for money. We arrived at 8pm and there were only 16 people in the whole place (one was a table of 8). We were... More

This is indeed a special place. You are taken inside the cliff into small caves with 3-4 tables each. The menu is mostly fixed: fouaces with rillettes, sort of bacon and white beans then cheese or other desserts, local wine and coffee or tea. The good is very good and the price is low, especially for French standards. Remember to... More

Can one be here around Saumur without going through a troglodytal experience? I think not. We went to Rochemenier, it rained and we decided to give the restaurant a try. We didn't know about it ( how strange) and were welcomed by a very sweet and gentil patronne. She asked if we had a reservation, ( you should make one!!!)... More

Very interesting location in troglodyte area and very popular. Excellent meal, selection of dishes brought to you, with aperitif and bottle of wine etc, and a tour of the caves and oven midway through. Very reasonable price and very nice service. Highly recommended.

After a visit to the local museum we went to this little restaurant in the (famous, man-made) caves of Rochemenier. There is one menu of dishes, consisting of 4 small but tasty courses. The food is classic French, centring around the local fouache bread (similar to pita). A glass of good sweet white wine, a bottle of decent house red,... More
