I've been to Plum Tree numerous times. For the most part I order their Bento Boxes as those are quite filling and at a great price. The flavor is good, although they drench some items in Teriyaki sauce. The tea is great and so is the Sushi.

We go to the Plum Tree mostly for lunch for once in a while for dinner. Traditional menu that you would expect, good service, competes well in the Collegetown area. Standby menu items that are quite good include: gyoza, edamame, soft shell crab, and a wide variety of sashimi and sushi. Not quite as cutting edge as you'd find in... More

We had a variety of rolls, soup and a seaweed salad. Everything was ok, but nothing was extra special.

This restaurant is located in Collegetown, adjacent the Cornell campus. There are numerous Asian restaurants in Collegetown and my son - a student at Cornell - likes the sushi here. Recently tried the restaurant for the first time and enjoyed it very much. The restaurant is not upscale. The food was delicious, though perhaps slightly pricey as sushi and bento... More

We wanted sushi. The place we looked up online had a recent fire so we had to change plans. We saw Plum Tree as we drove in downtown Ithaca and I dashed out of the car to check the menu while my husband circled. The menu in the window looked terrific with reasonable prices. I could see the sushi chefs... More

During our visit to see our son at college, he suggested we try out this Japanese restaurant. Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience -- at least from a family's perspective. The restaurant was relatively quiet when we arrived, with only two larger groups of people. However, once we sat down and ordered, the music was turned up to such... More

Started with the miso soup and a shrimp appetizer that was very good. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. We all had the yaki udon - one of us with shrimp, other with beef and mine with vegetables. I have had this dish many times elsewhere and always enjoyed it. Their version, however, had way too much sauce that was... More

The food here is really good. Their lunchtime boxes are very good value. Highly recommend. The waiter was a little weird. We weren't sure if he was joking or serious (I asked for a fork and he brought it. Then my aunt asked for one and he said "Why didn't you ask when she did?").

Plum Tree is a nice restaurant in Collegetown, with a pretty minimalist atmosphere and a reputation for sushi and sake bombs. The prices for ala carte are quite expensive, especially if you're getting special rolls. I highly recommend getting the all you can eat; you get access to virtually the whole menu, including sushi, appetizers, desserts, drinks, and salads, and... More
