Flavorless blueberry pancakes, greasy eggs, absolutely disguisting chili omelette. Probably the worst diner food I've ever tried. Service was poor too.

Went for lunch. Retro setting most of the seats taped up. Put the price for high for diner in the portion small compared to most diners I've been to. My kids got the French toast and neither one cared for the taste of it

If you are looking for fine dining or another Quick Service Restaurant sterile menu, then turn around before you get to the door. The Downtown Diner is slightly retro, but authentic and friendly. Pretty much all of the menu if made from scratch on site, especially the pancakes, which don't taste like the chemical crap available in most other restaurants.... More

After a slow start in the morning on Saturday, December 31, we found that none of the swanky restaurants were serving breakfast OR brunch after 11 am! I'd seen the Downtown Diner on the corner on an earlier visit to Lake Placid and we headed straight down the street from the Golden Arrow Resort to this little gem. Located near... More

had breakfast with family in here the day of Iron Man 2016. They had special Printed Menu that day (suggested to me they upped the prices for the day). They charge extra for things like real maple syrup (Adirondack Staple). Service was OK at best. Would not rush back.

Have reasonably priced breakfast here whenever in lake placid. Great service and value. Many breakfast selections including homemade breads, glutenfree items and vegetarian options. Very quick to refill both coffee and tea. Many tea selections for tea drinkers which is lovely

There was a group of 10 of us and we got seated in the middle of the restaurant. Service was fast and our waitress was nice! The omelette were huge, awesome and filling!! I could barely finish mine! I didn't get to eat the hash brown potatoes or the toast as the omelette was so filling and yummy!! Some others... More

They have a good idea going with the throwback diner feel. I was there for breakfast. Prices were a bit much for what you're getting. I wasn't a fan of the very greasy Adirondack breakfast plate. Food was relatively bland and they charged $2 for a shot of applejuice. Price was high compared to what you get.

Arrived about 7:45 on a Saturday morning. Though not especially crowded it took awhile for the waiter to arrive. The food is good and the portions more than adequate. However, the service is slow. Once the place fills up you might have to tackle the waiter to get more coffee or your check. As the establishment next door was closed... More

Duct tape on the seats, junk tacked up all over the walls, dirty tables, chipped cups, bent forks, crappy food that doesn't come as ordered (i.e., I'll have a coffee = never getting a coffee) - what else do you need to know to go elsewhere?

Thank J B
