The place is popular and can be crowded. The food is authentic German. Everything on the menu we tried was very satisfying. The beer is great. Closed during the winter. A must go to when in Montauk.

Had a great German meal and very good beer. Rustic beer hall atmosphere. Probably can get rowdy during the high season, but worth it.

Traveled for work to Montauk and arrived late on a Saturday night, the closest place to the hotel was this one and we give it a try, there was a live music group playing and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun, I wasn't to happy with my hamburger it was tiny and the half slice of tomato was ridiculous!! We stopped at Zum Schneider the other night after striking out on two other restaurants that were closed after the Labor Day weekend. It was our good fortune that they were open. We were very impressed with the wait staff, choice of beer and food. The salad that preceded the dinner was outstanding and the sauerbraten was just like my... More

We took our German au pair who just had arrived two days earlier. We were very excited to take her since she was home sick. Her first comment was this is not German food, it's Bavarian. We pretty much were disappointed with all the food and the service was extremely slow. It was Labor Day Weekend. None of the food... More

A beer lover's paradise, the weiner schnitzel was quite good. The place has the feel of a beer hall, and is downtown montauk.

Went to Zum Schneider for dinner during our stay in Montauk. We sat at the bar. We ordered and the Bavarian cheese dip for an appetizer. First of all it took 20 minutes for it to come out and the bartender just put it in front of us without any silverware or napkins. When I asked for napkins the bartender... More
