Walked in to this place at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 1. Two of us. Asked for a table. Dining room was 2/3 empty. Hostess said they did not have any tables available. I pointed to the dining and offered that only a few tables were occupied. Here is where I had my first in a lifetime dining out experience.... More

Top notch Greek Restaurant with an extensive menu. Service was excellent and food was very good. The combo platters are large enough to be shared by 2. Would definitely recommend to others.

I enjoyed a leisurely lunch in this huge Greek restaurant -- very friendly and attentive service, lovely home-made tasting lemon and chicken soup accompanied by a generous platter of grilled veggies. It was very reasonably priced and the portions so generous that I packed half my lunch to take home.

My wife and I both like Greek food and have been wanting to try The Black Olive. We arrived at 3pm on a rainy Saturday. The place was completely deserted. However, they were open and quickly set up a table in front of the windows overlooking a busy street. A great place to watch people going by. The waitress was... More

Lamb kebabs (the evening "special") were very, very tough; had to request a steak knife. Salad with roasted vegetables was unnecessarily oily...and I mean OILY. Spanakopita likewise, and not a nice, buttery "oily," either. Just oily. The pita bread, however, was warm and soft. Really, the best part of the meal. Service was fine, but server didn't seem eager to... More

My daughter, a Syracuse resident, raved about The Black Olive. We paid to park in front of the restaurant. We were greeted by a display of Mediterranean and other deserts that promised a good restaurant. I was disappointed. The prices were high for the offering. The food was a basically mediocre offering of Greek and other Mediterranean foods. The plate... More

Pleasant ambience, good service, tasty Greek food. We shared a sampler platter for two and it was delicious. I liked being able to make my reservation through Yelp.

Terrible! Would not recommend or go back. Service was so good, but food was awful! Calamari fried to a crisp. My seafood over orzo looked like slop! The bread was stale, and the grouper was more breading than fish. Don't even go!

I ordered a greek salad, hummus, falafal platter, Chicken skewers. The greek salad had no taste and it was all oil. The hummus was this strange colored thick paste and again with no flavor. The falafels were not crispy on the outside, again the interior had no flavor and was thick and chewy not fluffy like it should be. Lastly... More

Was in Syracuse on business and looking for someplace to eat dinner. Walked about a block from my hotel and this was literally the first restaurant I passed. I LOVE Greek food so this was a no brainer. I did look it up here on Trip Advisor and the reviews were somewhat mixed but I gave it a go. It... More
