So much history in this part of town. This old house has a ton too! Lots of history, charm and a homeyness feel to the place. But the food is ok. Pricey food and drinks. Have been here a couple of times and nothing out of the ordinary. Good music on Saturday nights, one time it was a really good... More

Fantastic Revolutionary War ambience, historic signifigance, great food and service. Major Andre, Benedict Arnold's British contact was held prisoner here.

The food is simply awful. I'm so sorry to say! The place is beautiful and historic. Sometimes, there is entertainment which is quite nice, but the lights are very bright and the staff really isn't attentive. Not even when you order expensive drinks.

You can almost visualize seeing GW and others sitting here enjoying a good pipe and a tankard of ale. We came for the history and our expectations of the food were low as many historical inns we've eaten at rely on the atmosphere rather than the food to get them by. We were pleasantly surprised. Great boar sausage, meat loaf... More

The '76 House dates from colonial times and played a role during the American Revolution. Its main claim to fame is that Major Andre was jailed there before being hanged as a spy. (The cell had been preserved until a few years ago when it was converted to a dining area. )The decor is maintained 18th century and is like... More

Fabulous menu, I love pot roast and bread pudding and this place had the best of both. The menu contains cuts of beef, daily specials, wild game and the boar's sausage appetizer was a great meal in itself. I will be back and this time I will bring more friends. The building is all history, George Washington stayed there and... More

You don't have to wear your tricorne hat to this place but you will not be able to resist the warm and cozy feel of a historic colonial building as you enter. We were there on a Sunday having just missed their brunch but sat at the bar until the kitchen had a chance to switch hats and tables were... More

My husband is a history buff so the '76 House was on his list of must do things when we visited our daughter in NY. We went on a Sunday morning for brunch, it was about 70$ for three of us which did not include mimosas. The food was absolutely beautiful and delicious. The room was a u-shaped buffet with... More

Was here for a fund raiser and was very pleased with the experience. Food was excellent with a wide variety of choices. Live music lent and extra special feel to the evening. Good wine selection as well. Wait staff was very attentive and just plain fun.

The food here was excellent, The Onion Soup Lafayette was a wonderful version of french onion soup. The baked brie was delicious with fruit accompaniments, although smaller than I expected it was just the right size for one. The Yankee Pot Rpast was lovely melt in your mouth meat with a popover and some red cabbage with just the right... More
