Defintely tastes better than the exterior of the bar looks. But don't judge a book by its cover. Very good food and service. Had wings -they're delicious! And, a cheeseburger, which was juicy, and good, but needed a little more flavor. Great stop if headed to airport.

Curbside looks are deceiving. The food is wonderful, delicious. The chef must have work in a top-notch restaurant before because the special's menu is anything but pub. Yet the wings are OUTSTANDING;AWARD WINNING so get your grub on. Easy local vibe..Decent prices. Won't disappoint.

We were traveling thru Vermont/New York on our way home to Michigan. This bar/restaurant was recommended on Trip Advisor. We were welcomed by the very friendly staff (two of which were brothers). The food was excellent. My husband and brother-in-law had the lamb stew. My sister-in-law and I had the short ribs. The meat in both of these dinners was... More

Went here one night for quick bite before an event. Packed casual place with good pub food that came out a bit slowly but gave us time for a good brew! During the school year, college kids hangout. Families go here, too. Homey place. I love the soups.

Found this gem last night across from The Hanger. Bartender was extremely friendly even though the place was busy. Great selection on tap. Ran into friends here who told us they dine here every Saturday. Sat next to tonight's bands and had dinner. Food was very good. My only thought was they could have sliced my corned beef thinner, for... More

A Birthday lunch for my Sister. She has been going to the Ale House for 30 years and chose it for her celebration. When we pulled up out front I was not sure but once inside we found very friendly folks and great food. Hard cider, margarita straight up with salt, homemade pea soup, hand prepared hamburgers (not frozen), fries... More

The seating area is very welcoming and away from the bar which is nice. The waitresses are always friendly and attentive. I can never turn down the wings, they're certainly a must try!

Over the years, the Ale House on River St has always been a favorite of mine. If you're looking for ambiance, go someplace else. If you're looking for great food at a reasonable price, the Ale House is the place. In my opinion, they've got the BEST burger in the city. I hate hamburger that's been frozen, but the Ale... More

After stopping at 3 different "Irish" restaurants on St. Patrick's Day for corned beef and cabbage, all which had 'run out' we stopped at the Ale House. The crowd was lively, the bar and seating area busy. We were lucky to grab the last open table and ordered 4 corned beef dinners. The portions were huge and delicious. A huge... More
