We assumed it was a typical village restaurant and were pleasantly surprised to find it could hold its own with restaurants with Michelin stars. It is quite elegant and I was relieved that I happened to be wearing a decent shirt that day. The focus is on fixed menus with an amuse-bouches and palate cleansers, rather than à la carte.... More

We have stayed here many times and always had a great reception. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The wine list is extensive with many well priced bins and a good selection of local wines. Excellent friendly service. Will definitely be back

A group of us were in Belcastel to celebrate the 90th birthday of a mutual friend. We were a mixed group, British and Australian, and generally of the 'getting on' persuasion. This event was such that one couple even flew specially from Oz for just a couple of days to attend. There are times when only a really fine dine... More

We had lunch here, with friends. We arrived after a long trip touring by the area. The service is flawless, the food is perfect. We had both, fish and meat, then cheeses and desserts. Everything was superb. Highly recommended! And although you are in a dinning room, due to the big windows you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. And the... More

As mentioned in other reviews the decor is a bit stark but the food is excellent. There were some surprising but excellent use of ingredients and herbs we have not come across. (We lived in France for many years and have eaten throughout the country). As it is off the beaten track the prices for a Michelin restaurant are not... More

Roughly one a year when visiting France we try to book ourselves dinner in a starred restaurant. I must say we never regretted any of these occasions, although clearly some are better than others. This latest visit was definitely among the very best. Not only for the food but also service, courtesy and attentiveness. We booked a table for dinner... More

This is up with the very best. It is pricey, but totally worth it. Some tastes were a little bit too far for one or two of us, such as the rocket sorbet, but others liked it. Having eaten recently in Donostia/San Sebastián, I am delighted to say the standard of food is up there with the best. That is... More

The decor is nothing special but the setting, beside the river in this extraordinary medieval village, is extraordinary. Service is charming and professional but the real star is the food: complex and challenging at times but always successful, and never dull. We started with asparagus. They were so fresh they were crunchy and wonderfully tasty. But they came with strawberries... More

Impeccable food, decor and service in the middle of one of France's most beautiful villages. What makes this for me is local produce such as ceps or girolles, local dishes such as veal from Aubrac, with a twist and elegantly presented and accompanied by local wines such as Marcillac, Cahors and Gaillac. The set menus are the best option and... More

The Vieux Pont Hotel & Restaurant is set in one of the most beautiful villages in France which is an endorsement in itself ! We could only manage two nights staying here but certainly intend to return in the spring. The very comfortable hotel is situated just over the little ancient bridge from the restaurant, and what a restaurant. Michelin... More
