We didn’t expect much from a restaurant a bit out of the way but we’re pleasantly surprised. Starting with the lovely decor, and on to the friendly service and then of course the food which was delicious. Everything we ate was tasty and prepared in...an interesting way. Good wine choices as well. Really glad we came.More

The trout Grand Marnier was the best I’ve ever had. It was absolutely delicious. Dinner and drinks we’re fabulous. My only turn off was the bartender, while we were in line to be seated, she was shaking a drink in a shaker, poured it in...a glass, then put the shaker to her mouth and finished the rest! About 4-5 people in line saw her do this!More

Came highly recommended but did not meet the hype. Everything we asked for was a problem and we are not difficult. Hostess wouldn't give us a window seat after we had reservations for months as an anniversary. Table remained empty until we were half way...done w dinner. My wife can't eat dairy products so mashed potatoes w Parma san was out and they couldn't make plain mashed or even baked. Had to settle on oversalted fries w their signature trout dish. Waitress seemed disinterested. Another waitress seemed so much more professional w her guests. My trout dish was very average and light on flavor served over yucky risotto.More

The Hungry Trout has been our go to restaurant since we purchased a camp about ten miles from it. The food and the setting is great. We usually purchase the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer when we go. They are pricey at $ 14.00 but...because they are delicious we don’t mind. In the past we ordered them and share before our meal arrives. There are 4 mushrooms. Last Saturday we ordered them and we were brought 1 mushroom. I did ask the waiter if this was a mistake and he said that sometimes if the mushroom is big you only get one. This mushroom was not big! Needless to say we each had one bite of a 14.00 mushroom. We were not happy. We don’t mind paying if if you feel like you’re getting something tasty and your money’s worth. I would have been embarrassed to serve that appetizer. We won’t be back.More

This is the Go-To place whenever were in the Adirondacks. Situated at the base of White Face mountain this place has the best prepared trout you'll find. Served in many ways, fried, sauteed and paired with other seafood or venison. The service is always warm and...personal. We look forward to our next visit.More

I ate here three times last summer and again last night. I have to say that it’s one of the nicest experiences you could have dining in the Adirondacks. The restaurant itself is spacious with well spaced tables, with beautiful views of the West Ausable...river that rushes past the restaurant. Fly fishermen are frequently seen pulling trout from the stream. The service is friendly and professional and the food is excellent. I’ve had the trout several times, and my favorite is the Grand Marnier trout which is out of this world. We paired it with a Riesling and it was just super. My friend had venison chops which were very very good. I recommend this place very very highlyMore

Beautiful location and view. The trout was very nicely done. My steak had to go back to the kitchen as it was not well done, as ordered, it was all pink in the center. Waitress took care of it, however, and we had a wonderful...dinner. Excellent wait staff, plenty of parking, beautiful view. Pricey, but worth it.More

Great food and great service from Trica. My wife the lemon caper trout and I had the Grand Marairenr trout. We started off with a salad and Lobster Bisc. A nice bottle of Pinot Noir did the trick. Great view and service made a great...evening.More

The food and service were both incredible at The Hungry Trout Restaurant. We made a reservation ahead of time and we were seated at the back window with a captivating view of the Ausable River. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing. I...ordered the campfire trout dish and my wife ordered the roasted trout (see photos). I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to others, and I look forward to returning in the future.More

My wife and ate at The Hungry Trout this past weekend. All I can say is the food was only surpassed by the spectacular setting alongside the the Ausable River. If it had been a bit warmer, would have been great to sit outside. I...had the duck which was excellent and my wife had one of their wonderful trout dinners. Hope to return some day.More
