We stepped out of our comfort zone eating here. The waitress was amazing and helped answer any questions we may have had about the menu and the foods being served.

We were looking forward to experiencing a delectable dinner. But the food did not live up to the extremely pricey yet underwhelming taste. Every sauce was very salty from the crab beignets to the filet. Unfortunately four people in our party had the filet and...one had an inedible sea bass dish. My pork chop was the best of all. We mentioned the issue to the server and the manager but nothing was done. Request sauce on the side!!!More
When I have eaten at Artisinal (before covid) I will say they were memorable and delicious experiences. However, upon returning this last month, I was very disappointed. The Brussels salad was over dressed, the duck was over smoked and under seasoned, and the sauce was...more than "salt forward." The dessert was beautifully presented and the two bites of it delicious, but I think they could be a little more generous. Small Portions if sublime are one thing, but small portions and just ok...no. Atmosphere and service exceptional.More
First time visiting Artisanal and it was a wonderful experience! I will definitely be back! The food was cooked to perfection and the staff were on point throughout the entire meal. The atmosphere was also very pleasing.
I have never posted a review of this restaurant before that was anything but good but feel compelled over the experience we just went through last week. We went to Artisanal Restaurant in Banner Elk with friends two weeks ago. This is a restaurant we...always went to for special occasions, when we had guests and even traveled up from FL on my birthdays to eat there for many years. We also have dined at the sister restaurant in Charlotte which is Peppertree. I made the reservation via Open Table, we arrived and all four of us were in agreement that the food was not the usual quality that it always has been in the past. We had the smoked beet and citrus salads which somehow for us at least did not work for our palates. We each had different entrees and an upcharge of $40 was charged for the filet. The filet was good, not great, the pork was fatty and the short ribs were good. Very small portions. Our server was excellent and someone did come by our table and ask how things were. We did not want to offend anyone so unfortunately kept it to ourselves. The next day I get a review request from Open Table. I tried to be as kind as possible as we love this place! I received a call from the Manager (Carol) who informed me that my pending reservation for June had been canceled by the owner and the Chef would not cook for me again. Now when we owned restaurants, we treated each guest like they mattered, we listened to their feedback to help make guest experiences even better. This call came the day after I had to put my golden retriever down so I guess I just feel beat up and needed to share. We also went to this restaurant when they reopened from being shut down with Covid as we wanted to keep local restaurants going. I did ask for owner/Chef to contact me. I now see that is not going to happen and to say we are disappointed is a very mild statement. Even with all that has happened, we wish them well and the location and ambience is very beautiful. #artisinalrestaurant;#artisinal;#bannerelknc. Since posting this review on my personal Facebook account, I have heard from numerous locals that this too has happened to them as well. In one case, a long time customer brought guests and the guest complained about a fish entree. The long time customer was called and was blocked from every coming again. Chef Green, this is not how you become a great Chef by treating people horrible and not even having the guts to call them yourself but make your dining room manager call. We have ate at Michelen starred restaurants, James Beard nominees and winners and never been treated like the way you did. If you go to this restaurant, do not complain about anything or the same will happen to you.More
Shirley I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your dinner at Artisanal two weeks ago. My recount is that your server Katherine on numerous times asked if you were enjoying your dinner & everyone said it was good. You didn’t give us a chance to fix any...More
W4481RZkeithw 1 Food and service were excellent! Meal was fixed price, but offered numerous selections. My wife had the sea bass, and I had the 48-Hour Painted Hills Farm Short Rib Of Beef. Wine selection went from normal to $5K a bottle...so you can definitely...run the course of what you would like to have based on the occasion. Their last day for the season is Oct 31, and reopen in April.More
I really had high expectations based on so many reviews here. The food was good but not worth a $350 meal for 2 people. It seems that it is highly overrated unfortunately. There are plenty of other good restaurants in other cities that cost much...less with much better cuisine.More
What a fabulous experience. We dined outside on a beautiful , October evening. The outdoor Patio was sensational, with turning foliage and a babbling brook. Our meal matched the atmosphere. The three course meal was exceptional! The Tuna Tartar was the best ever! Our party...also had the pear salad and soup special. Entrees were perfectly cooked ( Beef, Pork Chop and Scallops) and very elegant. It was a fabulous visit and can’t wait to visit again.More
This was our 3rd visit to Artisinal. Beautiful drive in thru farms and the interior has a barn vibe. Sit outside by the creek if the weather is good and it’s available. Due to Covid and staffing issues the only menu available was the $95...Prix Fixe. It was delicious but we prefer the full menu.More
I shall miss dining at Artisinal! I, recently, had, what I hoped, would be another lovely dinner at Artisanal... But, this time the experience was terrible! The beginning of our evening meal, outside, listening to the trickling water, started beautifully... Then, a party of 6...(approximately, 30-35 year old couples) was seated at the next table and the evening was, absolutely, ruined! All conversation at our table and nearby tables was halted, because of the extremely loud noise of the newly seated, nearby table! At one point, I commented to our waiter about the noise; and, he said, I know.” And, the “ruckus” continued and continued… My greatest disappointment was that management did not address the problem. I’m not certain if they didn’t know how or, really, didn’t care! I shall miss Artisinal!More
Top notch from start to finish! Beautiful setting, stellar service and every bite was delicious. We were staying in Banner Elk and were lucky to happen upon this gem. The pork entree was A+ as was everything we enjoyed that evening. A repeat visit is...already being planned.More
We love coming here every summer we are in the mountains It’s tough to get a reservation here as they are only open seasonally and you have to communicate via email or voicemail Always a wonderful experience . Food is delicious and beautifully presented. Cocktails...are amazing and service is exceptional . The patio is the place to be if you are lucky enough to get a reservation out thereMore
The last time I had a dining experience like this was at a Michelin ** restaurant in the Spanish countryside. You just don't expect to get this sort of quality and service in a small mountain town. We had the tasting menu with the wine...pairing, and it was sensational!More
The atmosphere and interior are stunning, I mentioned it reminded me of Blackberry Farm and they said it was styled after them. Our waiter was knowledgable and attentive. My husband and I both loved our appetizers and I loved my entree but my husband was...disappointed in the 48 hour pastrami short rib, it was just not the caliber of the rest of the meal. My biggest gripe is we ordered a very nice bottle of wine with dinner and it was not decanted, this may not have irritated me so much but everyone around us had their wine decanted, additionally the sommelier was not hospitable at all.More
We go every single year, as this is one of the top dining experiences in the state. The facility and the grounds are gorgeous and the food is as good as just about anywhere. Reservations required LONG in advance.
